The Return of a Best Selling Cable
For many years, AudioQuest Type 8 was our best selling high-end speaker cable at Audio Advisor. Audiophiles loved the sound and also the option of bi-wiring Type 8 for their speakers with two sets of speaker cable binding posts. But recently AudioQuest informed us that Type 8 was discontinued. No more cable was available. We vigorously protested! AudioQuest scoured their warehouses in California, the Netherlands, and Hong Kong for additional spools, but they found none.
Months went by. Then one of AudioQuest's warehouse employees in Hong Kong discovered a entire pallet of spools of Type 8 which had been misplaced in a corner of the warehouse. They called us to ask, "Are you sill interested?" Of course we answered, "Yes!" Then we struck a deal to buy all the Type 8 they had discovered.
This is your last chance to save on this excellent speaker cable at a price you will never see again. Hurry!
Only the Purest Copper Conductors
Type 8 uses a carefully finessed combination of Long-Grain Copper (LGC) and extremely high purity Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) conductors. The gauge of this cable is 2 x 12 AWG with a 10mm outer diameter.
All conductors are solid, which prevents strand interaction, a major source of distortion. Surface quality is critical because a conductor can be considered as a rail-guide for both the electric fields within a conductor, and for the magnetic fields outside the conductor.
LGC has fewer oxides within the conducting material, less impurities, less grain boundaries, and definitively better performance. The astonishingly smooth and pure PSC further eliminates harshness and greatly increases clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N, and other coppers.
Sophisticated Circular-Array Geometry
The relationship between conductors defines some of a cable's basic electrical values (capacitance and inductance). Independent of these values, the relationship between conductors can be varied in ways that greatly effect performance. The circular-spiral construction of Type 8 allows for significantly better dynamic contrast and clarity than if the same conductors were run in parallel or as multiple twisted pairs.
Spread Spectrum Technology (SST)
Any single size or shape of conductor has a characteristic distortion profile. Even though radially symmetrical conductors (solid round or tubular) have the fewest discontinuities, each size still has a sonic signature. Type 8 uses a precise combination of four different size conductors in order to significantly reduce the audibility of these character flaws.
Get More and Pay Far Less with 'No Frills' Packaging
We go the extra mile terminating Type 8 speaker cable. Our factory-trained 30-year veteran technician hand-terminates each and every Type 8 cable using the highest-purity WBT Silver Solder.
Both the banana and spade termination are made of high quality copper with a gold plating. The bananas are a BFA-type with expanding contact area. The barrel on the bananas is chromium-plated. The spades are a 'double-notched' type, which will fit either 1/4" or 5/16" binding posts with ease.
The cables are then color coded with the highest-grade heat shrink to ensure proper installation.
After we hand-terminate the cables, we wrap them in protective plastic. You don't get a fancy box, but you save a lot of money with our 'No Frills' packaging.
