"To Say We Were Impressed is a Gross Understatement"
At just 9-inches square, Cambridge Audio's Minx X200 is one of the world’s smallest subwoofers and is incredibly easy to fit into any room. But you would never guess that so much bass is coming from such a compact sub. The X200 has a healthy 200-watt continuous power output with much higher peak power and delivers low bass down to 39 Hz.
"To say we were impressed is a gross understatement," reports Luke Peters, Editor of T3 magazine in his review of the Minx for September 2010. "Extremely impressive for a system that seems to be at home in a dedicated AV room or an über cool penthouse apartment… Everything we experienced demonstrates that the Minx is a truly versatile sound system."
In the July/August 2011 issue of Sound+Vision magazine, Brent Butterworth calls the MinxMin 10 speaker and the Minx X200 sub "the best little cube-shaped speaker system I've heard and the first that I liked as much as larger, two-way sub/sat speaker-system bargains."
"Packs a Particularly Hefty Punch"
"It packs a particularly hefty punch for one so small, thanks to the nifty active/passive sub-radiator configuration," writes Nic Tatham in his March 1, 2011 review of a 5.1-channel Min 10 package plus X200 sub for CNET Australia. "True home theatre performance with all manner of material makes this a sure-fired winner."
The Minx magic is the result of an intensive two-year development program by Cambridge Audio’s engineers to achieve extraordinary sound from incredibly small cabinets. And like all Minx subwoofers, it features a range of simple controls to allow placement almost anywhere.
Significant Technological Advances
The X200 offers significant technological advances, implementing a forward firing driver for amazing punch and attack combined with an innovative Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR) to deliver superior efficiency and enable a much smaller footprint. It boasts a 6.5" bass driver and two 6.5" passive radiators for impressive bass performance.
It also feature a sophisticated Digital Signal Processor (DSP) designed by Cambridge Audio’s software engineers for the most sensational performance from unfeasibly tiny enclosures. Regardless of your room’s shape and size, Minx’s DSP and simple set-up adjustments ensure your system is perfectly customized for placement almost anywhere.
When you build a complete Minx system, all of the components will sound truly integrated for the purest possible audio whether you’re enjoying a live classical concert or an adrenaline-pumping car chase.

"The Cambridge Audio Minx 215 [satellite/sub system] is the best little cube-shaped speaker system I've heard and the first that I liked as much as larger, two-way sub/sat speaker-system bargains…. It's clearly one of today's best speaker-system bargains. The Minx is like a violin as opposed to an electric guitar. I hesitate to say it kicks ass, but it definitely satisfies."
- Brent Butterworth, Sound+Vision magazine, July/August 2011
"The sub/sat combo produces some eminently listenable tunes combining fine imaging and stereo separation with depth of soundstage and genuine substance from the X200 subwoofer. It packs a particularly hefty punch for one so small, thanks to the nifty active/passive sub-radiator configuration. This means a trio of 140 mm woofers dish out the bass with 200 watts of power to the active driver. We found it better reinforced the lower frequencies by placing it in a room corner, but even free-standing, the X200 is never short on lower hertz."
"Small, perfectly formed and capable of sound as big as Ben Hur, Cambridge Audio's Minx package is a tasty little number. It's as happy delivering music as it is the latest movie blockbuster and taking up so little space, it'll no doubt be a hit with 'the partner' indoors also. Great design, slick looks (albeit a dust magnet) and true home theatre performance with all manner of material makes this a sure-fired winner."
