Deep Bass and High Power Handling
NHT's Classic Two offers deeper bass and higher power handling than you'd expect from such a compact speaker. Its advanced acoustic suspension design features a newly developed 6.5" aluminum cone bass driver for detailed midrange and low frequency impact. And the Classic Two is wall mountable, too.
Graceful Cabinet Enhances Sound
While the Classic series cabinets are certainly beautiful, their shape is all about the business of making great sound. The graceful cabinets place every driver into a consistent predictable acoustical environment. For example, variable radius edges on the cabinet sides randomize diffraction from the midrange and tweeter drivers, aiding the speakers' dispersion of midrange and high-frequency sounds.
An 'Air Spring' Controls Cone Motion
The NHT Two relies on an acoustic suspension designs that use nature's perfect spring force - air - to control the cone motion, instead of a heavy and unpredictable mechanical suspension. It takes a little more development time and amplifier power to do an acoustic suspension design justice, but the greatly decreased distortion, deeper bass response, and increased detail are well worth it.
The Classic Two's 6.5" woofer features a frame made from BMC (Bulk Molding Compound). Usually a designer has to choose between inexpensive, mechanically sound materials such as ABS plastic and stamped steel, or expensive materials such as cast aluminum or magnesium that are ideal acoustically and mechanically. BMC delivers the best of both worlds. It is a cost effective material that is immensely stiff and easily shaped into acoustically ideal shapes.
The 1" aluminum dome tweeter offers smooth, liquid high frequency response and very good dispersion characteristics.
Beautiful Environmentally Friendly Cabinet
The cabinet is made with MDF, a board manufactured primarily of wood residues from the production of lumber and plywood with a low percentage of virgin tree wood. NHT finishes them with seven coats of hand-finished polyurethane applied in a "solid particle" method that's safe for the environment. This finish is then sealed with two coats of automotive grade clear-coat to protect the finish. By avoiding exotic wood veneers, and using materials such as MDF, NHT doesn't sacrifice scarce natural resources to make acoustically sound furniture grade cabinets.
"In terms of the modern lines of their design and the dimension and definition inherent in their engineering, NHT makes a bold, impressive statement with the Classic Two. By themselves, a pair of Classic Twos are convincing and involving. When linked with the Classic Ten subwoofer, the 2.1-channel system has power, presence, and is remarkably fun to listen to. Speakers and sub express a top-to-bottom coherence that emphasizes midrange beauty, and packs a visceral punch with an unquestionable ability to play loud. The combo competes admirably with larger floorstanding speakers, but at a lower price."
Jeff Stockton, Good Sound!
"Articulate midrange and detailed highs are this systemís forte. If you like to hear every whisper in a filmís soundtrack, subtleties like birds in the background or wind rustling through trees, then this is the definitely a speaker system to get excited about."
