"This is a DAC You Have to Hear"
The Peachtree Audio DAC*iT is a D-to-A converter designed to bring your audio system into the new millennium using the computer you already own. Optimized for computers and streaming audio music devices, the DAC*iT features the three most important digital inputs, which means it includes USB for your computer along with optical and coaxial for any other type of streamer or CD/DVD player.
"Peachtree Audio clearly knows what they're doing, and their DAC*iT is incredibly enjoyable to listen to," raves Jon Iverson in his Stereophile review for May 10, 2012. "If you're spending under $500, or even up to $1000, this is a DAC you have to hear."
"The DAC*iT may be the component of choice for readers seeking a low cost, high performing, overachieving DAC from a company created solely to meet the needs of computer audiophiles," notes The Computer Audiophile for December 14, 2011. "The DAC*iT is highly recommended."
All three of the DAC*iT's inputs take advantage of the high-resolution ESS Sabre32 9022 DAC chip and a 'hotrod' analog output section. This eliminates the need for expensive sound cards and very effectively replaces the weak analog output section built in to streaming devices.
For a little added convenience, a remote control with discreet input selection is included with the DAC*iT.
Optimized to Handle Digital Challenges
Unlike CD transports, computers and streaming devices tend to present a rather harsh musical environment with a unique set of challenges. The Peachtree DAC*iT is specifically designed for this environment and is optimized to handle these challenges. And it does so in four ways.
First, the DAC is galvanically isolated, which is necessary when dealing with electrical noise generated by a computer's USB output. Elimination of this noise via USB is among the most important reasons that the USB section of the DAC*iT performs so well.
Second, the DAC*iT reclocks any digital signal to less than 3 p/s. This is quite a claim since many computers have up to ten times the mistiming (jitter) of a CD player. But not so with the DAC*iT!
Third, the DaciT's USB input accepts data up to 24/96 to handle high-resolution audio downloads.
Fourth, streaming devices can be attached to the DAC*iT via optical or coax, which is also transformer-coupled to prevent superfluous noise from entering the signal path. The DAC*iT thinks they are all high-end CD players. So if you have an Apple TV, Sonos, or other streamer that you want to hook up to your existing system, the DAC*iT is your ticket to performance.
"Manufacturers put their preferences out there for the public to hear, then cross their fingers. Peachtree Audio clearly knows what they're doing, and their DAC*iT is incredibly enjoyable to listen to. The guys at Peachtree are apparently fussy listeners, and in this model their fussiness has paid off.
"Hope springs eternal among thrifty audiophiles that a $500 DAC will get them all the way to $20,000 sound. I'm not sure that will ever happen, but if you're spending under $500, or even up to $1000, this is a DAC you have to hear."
- Jon Iverson, Stereophile magazine, May 10, 2012
"I encourage readers to find another DAC of this quality anywhere near this price. The DAC*iT is not for listeners who require analog input(s), balanced analog outputs, or volume control. The DAC*iT may be the component of choice for readers seeking a low cost, high performing, overachieving DAC from a company created solely to meet the needs of computer audiophiles. The DAC*iT is highly recommended."

|Great DAC in quality and price|
I have added this little toy to my system mainly to test if it would improve on the internal DAC of my Integra 50.3 receiver when I listen to stereo music and I am impressed. Music streamed with an Apple TV2 AIFF format definitely is more detailed, tighter bass and good overall harmony. I can listen to it for hours and not get tired of the sound. Also, the fact I can setup my Harmony remote to turn it on/off automatically with the rest of the system was a plus. Great product.
