Premium CD Transport
The CD Box RS from Pro-Ject is an ultimate CD transport that gets maximum information from audio discs. When used with a high quality external DAC, it delivers the uncompromising level of CD playback which a separate-component drive and DAC system will offer.
The CD Box RS uses special Sonic Scrambling technology with a Sonic2 output stage (RJ45). An I²S bus is used to communicate PCM audio data between integrated circuits. The I²S bus separates clock and serial data signals, resulting in significantly lower jitter levels, compared with all other communication principles, that extract the clock signal from the data stream.
Sonic Scrambling Technology
Sonic Scrambling technology improves linearity in multi-DAC designs significantly. Two DACs per channel in differential mode are used to reduce DAC related distortion and enhance low level signal linearity for superior conversion. Even subtle details will be available without any audible distortion.
To use the Sonic Scrambling technology of the CD Box RS, it is necessary to connect both an RJ45-to-RJ45 cable and a BNC-to-BNC digital cable for the clock to a DAC Box RS or a Pre Box RS Digital from Pro-Ject Audio Systems.
You can also take advantage of the outstanding performance of the CD Box RS by connecting it to an external DAC using its AES/EBU, Toslink optical, or coaxial optical outputs.
Top-Loading CD Drive and Support for Multiple File Formats
The CD Box RS uses a top-loading CD drive with aluminum cover plate and a magnetic clamp, which offers an extremely solid and dependable playback platform. It plays CD Audio, CD-R, CD-RW, and Hybrid SACD discs. In addition to offering playback of standard Redbook CD audio files, the Pro-Ject includes the Blue Tiger CD-100 servo system supporting 24/96 playback of FLAC files. The CD Box RS can also play WAV, WMA, and MP3 digital audio files.
The front-panel full color LCD screen displays time, tracks, and CD text (when available). A wireless remote give you armchair control of the unit.
