A Brand New Bang-for-the-Buck Benchmark
Pro-Ject establishes a brand new bang-for-the-buck benchmark with its impressive looking and equally impressive sounding RM1.3 turntable. It features a radical design with no compromise on performance. All of the RM1.3's ingredients add up to an incredible value, including the shape of the specially designed chassis with decoupled motor, the inverted main bearing, and the newly designed S-shaped tonearm.
Isolated Drive Motor
One look at the RM1.3 will tell you that this isn't an ordinary turntable, with features that you would expect to cost far more. A quiet running synchronous motor with a two-step pulley drives the platter's outside edge via a rubber belt. The drive motor is isolated on its own platform and completely decoupled from the plinth to eliminate vibration transmission.
It's All About Signal Purity
The RM1.3 is all about musical purity. To help keep vibration out of the signal chain, the RM1.3 uses a custom-made resonance-optimized platter that's constructed from medium-density fiber material. An inverted, chrome-plated stainless-steel axle runs on a polished metal ball in a sintered bronze bearing housing for dependably smooth operation. The external power supply avoids potential electro-mechanical interference.
Connection to the phono input of your phono stage or integrated amplifier can be made using the cables of your choice via the gold plated phono jacks and ground screw.
Premium S-Shaped Tonearm
The RM1.3 includes a factory-installed tonearm with a sophisticated 8.6" 'S-shaped' design that you would never expect to encounter in such an affordable turntable. The head shell and arm tube are fashioned from a single piece of aluminum. The horizontal bearings consist of two hardened stainless steel points and ball races. The eccentrically mounted counterweight reduces cantilever forces and dynamic wow when playing warped records.
Lots of adjustability features ensure the best possible playback. The solid arm base permits accurate height adjustment of the arm tube and VTA (vertical tracking angle). The included counterweight supplied is suitable for cartridges weighing between 4 and 9 grams. The single-screw attachment of the arm tube allows rotation for easy adjustment of needle azimuth despite the fixed headshell.
The internal wiring consists of silver coated, high-purity copper for maximum signal transfer.
Sumiko Pearl Phono Cartridge
The Pro-Ject RM1.3 turntable comes with everything you need for musical enjoyment. Not only is the quality tonearm included, but also a Sumiko Pearl MM moving magnet phono cartridge, featuring an alloy cantilever, bonded elliptical stylus and 4.0mV output. |
