"Superb Extension, Tuning, and Timing"
As one of the few specialist companies in the world to have developed its own CD and DVD players from the ground up, Arcam enjoys a global reputation for excellence in music and movie playback. Having produced one of the world's first true audiophile CD player in the late 1980's, Arcam has gone on to set the standards by which competing CD and DVD players are judged. The new CD37 is the company's highest performing music player to date.
TechRadar.com awarded the CD37 its top rating of Five Stars in its July 22, 2008 review, praising it for "Excellent detail, pinpoint imaging and neutral tonality, above-average resolution in the bass, superb extension, tuning, and timing."
Astonishing Musical Reproduction
Using technology from the company's highly revered DVD players, the CD37 plays both CDs and SACD with astonishing musical reproduction. Digital-to-analog conversion is carried out by the very latest Wolfson 8741 DACs. The DACs operate in differential mode and use pure DSD conversion. This native mode unleashes the full resolution of SACD discs for starling clarity.
Supporting the DAC are audiophile-grade components to boost the performance even further, including ultra high performance Burr Brown OPA2134 output op-amps and audiophile-grade WIMA Polypropylene capacitors in the output stage.
Noise Reduction Technologies
Electromagnetic interference (EMI), which would potentially mask fine details in similar players, is dramatically reduced using Arcam's proprietary 'Mask of Silence' technology in critical circuit areas. The use of Arcam's 'Stealth Mat' damping technology (unique metal fiber matting) further diffuses EMI to help reproduce every nuance of each recording.
Advanced Power Supply
The CD37's power supply features two separate toroidal transformers, one each for audio and digital circuits. It also uses individually regulated high capacity power supplies to the digital, analog, and servo sections, providing extremely stable power with minimal noise. Separate ground returns using 'star earthing' for each power supply prevent inter-stage noise. The sample rate-locked switch mode power supply for digital circuits provides premium performance. The chassis itself features a proprietary damped 'Sound Dead Steel' construction virtually eliminating mechanical influences on the electronics. |
