A Simple But Difficult Goal
The P38 design team was given a simple goal. Their job was to develop the best performing stereo amplifier that Arcam had ever produced. Although it was a huge challenge, the team dug deep into the basic structure of amplifier design, and the result was a remarkable improvement in fidelity.
The fully discrete transistor power amp design uses temperature compensation for enhanced performance and reliability. The current feedback design ensures wide bandwidth for high resolution audio. The all DC coupled signal path delivers enhanced bass control. Two pairs of individually selectable gold plated speaker outputs are provided.
An In-House Solution to Thermal Influences
An in-house research project yielded a wealth of information concerning the influences of thermal conditions on power amplifier performance. As a result, the P38 features a number of new technologies which practically eliminate thermal modulation of audio signals and ensure truly dynamic and enthralling reproduction. New Sanken output devices and dramatically improved thermal coupling provide an extremely stable device temperature, resulting in much improved linearity.
The P38's massive toroid based power supply delivers effortless control of loudspeakers with a new low noise XQ core.
