Extracts Every Drop of Detail from Digital Sources
Create harmony between your music and your networked lifestyle. The CXN will take your music from home networks, hard drives, and digital streaming services and then extract every last drop of details thanks to core DAC technology from Cambridge Audio's multi-award-winning StreamMagic series.
Thanks to core technology from Cambridge Audio's multi-award winning StreamMagic series, the CXN can play virtually anything, from basic compressed MP3 formats, to 24-bit/192 kHz studio master quality FLAC and WAV files. And play it incredibly well.
Its wireless playback capabilities include internet radio, Spotify Connect, Airplay and aptX Bluetooth. Whichever input the music comes from - wired or wireless – and whatever its original quality or resolution, the powerful digital engine inside every CXN upsamples your favorite songs to 24-bit/384kHz, delivering pure, audio heaven.
This is then output via Wolfson WM8740 DACs, which are arranged in Dual Differential configuration to extract that last drop of detail.
Create harmony between your love of music and your networked lifestyle. The CXN features a beautiful, 4.3" color display, which you can control via the free Cambridge Connect App for Apple and Android devices. Browse your music by artwork, artist, playlist and more and add convenient performance handling for your entertainment.
Digital Preamp Mode
A great feature that you'll find on the CXN is the ability to easily configure it for "Digital Preamp" mode. In "Digital Preamp" mode you can also adjust the channel balance, adding important capability and flexibility to this already cool component. Digital preamp mode, when enabled, allows volume adjustment to be performed within the upsampling Digital Signal Processor (DSP) before being converted to an analog audio signal for connection to a power amp.
Adaptive Time Filtering Upsampling
The CXN features ATF2 (2nd generation Adaptive Time Filtering) audio upsampling. The ATF2 system intelligently upsamples all incoming audio to 24-bit/384kHz. ATF2 also dramatically reduces digital jitter, a form of audible interference which affects all digital music. Jitter is most apparent when music is stored on computer hard drives and is the audio equivalent to a blurred image in a movie. Data scrambling circuitry also maintains signal quality and purity during quieter periods by reducing background noise.
As well as extracting ultimate detail from every source (even CD, Blu-ray and lossless digital files), ATF2 virtually eliminates jitter common in playing digital audio files. Jitter can lead to a flatter, lifeless sound with tinnier bass response. Those problems vanish when digital audio is put through the CXN.
Lots of Connectivity
No matter what you want to plug into or stream from, the CXN will excel.
Its USB connection instantly upgrades the audio of your PC or Mac, desktop, or laptop. Even streaming music services such as Spotify, Rhapsody or Napster sent via your computer can be improved by CXN's upsampling, delivering audiophile detail to your hi-fi. The USB connection supports up to 24-bit 192kHz transfer with both "kernel streaming" and "ASIO" support to cut out Windows default sound processing methods, further improving quality.
The CXN is compatible with both S/PDIF and optical digital connections used in most Blu-ray players, media streamers, and games consoles. Bypassing the inbuilt audio components of these devices and using the CXN brings enhanced levels of detail, breathing life into the audio from movies, games, and more.
The CXN also offers both balanced and unbalanced analog audio outputs for superior connectivity.
