Choose Moving Magnet or Moving Coil Designs
The Creek Evolution amplifier is supplied with a bridging link inside that connects the input jacks through to the preamp in the same way as its other line level inputs. However, when the link is removed, a Moving Magnet or Moving Coil preamp module can be plugged-in, allowing the first input (Disc) to be used to amplify a signal from a turntable.
The circuitry cannot be switched for MM or MC, so the correct module must be chosen to match your cartridge. The Evolution amp’s display will automatically show 'Disc,' when the amp is fitted with the plug-in module and selected for that input.
The discrete circuitry used on the phono stage module is similar to that used in the stand-alone phono preamps OBH-15 and OBH-18.
Four Versions to Choose From
There are four versions of the Creek phono module.
The Standard Moving Coil board is suitable for medium output cartridges in the range of 0.5 mV - 1 mV output.
The Special Edition Moving Coil board is suitable for low output MC cartridges in the range of 0.1 mV - 0.25mV output.
The Standard Moving Magnet board is suitable for medium to high output MM cartridges in the range of 3.5 mV - 5 mV output.
The Special Edition Moving Magnet board is suitable for high output MC or low output MM cartridges in the range of 0.9mV -2 mV output.
