Three-way Tower with Superb Midrange Focus and Extended Bass
The Monitor Audio Silver 8 floorstanding speaker has a new three-way design featuring Silver's 4" C-CAM RST midrange driver flanked by long-throw C-CAM RST 6" bass drivers. Introduced for Silver, this specialized configuration is optimized for greater accuracy over a critical frequency band to deliver superb midrange focus and precision as well as extended bass. Silver 8 also boasts Silver's new 1" C-CAM tweeter.
"Talk about hopes realized! From the second the system was powered up, the Silver 8s impressed me," raves Kalman Rubinson in his Stereophile review for December 31, 2014. "I'm at a loss to point to any way in which, for its size and price, the Monitor Audio Silver 8 disappointed. I've been looking at speakers for $3000/pair or less for a while, and have not heard any that I would prefer to the Monitor Audio Silver 8."
Unlike conventional driver cones, the new C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminum/Magnesium) RST (Rigid Surface Technology) bass and midrange drivers take the form of a continuous uninterrupted dish. Strengthened by a uniquely dimpled surface, their greater area radiates more sound, and driven by a larger voice coil and motor, delivers greater efficiency and a cleaner, more accurate response.
Silver 8 and 10 models feature a newly developed, low distortion 4" midrange driver, operating in its own optimized enclosure to expose visceral levels of detail where your sense of hearing is most acute.
Inspired engineering has also produced the Silver tweeter. Silver's new 1" C-CAM tweeter design vents internally around the outside of the magnet system into a large rear-loading chamber. This releases pressure at the back of the tweeter while producing much lower resonance and better overall damping. You'll experience a wider, more accurate, and extended frequency response for greater harmonic authenticity and a smoother more natural handover with the midbass driver.
The New Silver Series
If you love fabulous sound and design, get ready for a blissful experience. The new Monitor Audio Silver Series delivers a unity of form and function that is as precise as it is compelling. It's the product of over forty years of speaker development, invested with a love for accurate audio.
Features introduced by Monitor Audio's prestigious Platinum and Gold series speakers have been enhanced, and recent innovations in driver engineering have been incorporated across an extended new line-up.
Super-slender and finished in a choice of rosenut, walnut, natural oak, and black oak real-wood veneers (and in devastatingly chic gloss black and white), the new Silver series is made to re-energize entertainment in your home.
Bolt-through Driver Design
Single bolt-through driver fixings have the dual effect of improving cabinet rigidity while further reducing vibration at the driver/cabinet interface. By this innovative method, drivers are mounted on a single tensioned through-bolt, which is secured to the back of the cabinet. The bolt not only acts as a rigid cabinet brace to reduce box coloration, it removes the need for conventional driver fixings as well, effectively decoupling the driver and baffle to eliminate another source of unwanted resonance. The result is a more fluid communication of mid-range frequencies, and with the absence of front driver fixings, a cleaner more refined overall appearance, especially in tandem with RX's 'invisible' magnetic grille location.
HiVe II (High Velocity) Reflex Port
Developed for the flagship Gold Signature range, the HiVe II reflex port is shaped to have the same effect on airflow as a gun-barrel on a bullet. Rifled groves inside the port help to accelerate the flow and reduce turbulence, so that air moves in and out of the port more efficiently for a faster more dynamic bass response.

Yes, I Would Recommend
Owned for one week and they already sound great. I would not hesitate in recommending to a friend. Delivery was fast. They were well packaged. Sales guy, Joe, was helpful. Using with Vincent tube amp and Rega turntable. Best audio system for the buck. Recommend.

I Am Happy With The Speaker
I did a fair amount of speaker auditioning before ordering these. Comparing them against the B&W CM 9 I thought the Monitor Silver 8's sounded better overall and also very attractive. The tweeters sounded good on both, but the midrange and mid-bass were better to my ears on the Monitor's. The Monitor's had a better soundstage were also priced lower than the B&W's, so are a much better value. They arrived quickly and were well packaged for shipment. No issue with the set up. I am happy with the speaker.
One month now and here is my report: they are very good speakers overall and the mids and highs are crystal clear. There is plenty of bass, more than I expected from a pair of 6 inch woofers. They sound very evenly balanced. The fit and finish of the Silver 8s is incredible, more like fine furniture. These speakers are very solidly constructed. Rap the speaker hard with your hand, there is no hollow sound just the thunk from hitting the speaker. I am very pleased with the Monitor Silver 8 speakers.

Better Than I Was Expecting
They are great looking and even better sounding tower speakers. These replaced a pair of low end Wharfedale speakers and I really can hear what I was missing. They are a little on the revealing side so they improve with better sources and amplification. I started with my NAD 748 receiver which was already very good until I tried my Audio Research amp and then they really opened up and shined beautifully. Overall I am very happy with the purchase. They look and sound better than I expected for the price paid.

Not A Dissapointment In Any Way
The quality of sound is what I was looking for. These are a beautiful sounding and looking pair of speakers. The finish of the wood veneer is a big step up from vinyl wrapped MDF speakers. Build quality is great. These are articulate speakers. Vocals are well-defined and overall the sound is open and clear - not boxy or muffled as compared to other speakers in their price range. I continue to enjoy listening to my music library and watch movies with these hooked up in my living room. I have a pair of MartinLogan Theos in my main listening room, but feel these are not a disappointment in any way.

The Monitors blow the less expensive speakers away. I have these paired with the Cambridge CXA80 amp and I really couldn't be happier. I can clearly make out individual instruments. They hang suspended in my room just like I am at the concert. My music never sounded this good before. These are top notch all the way!

How do they do it for this low price
As a long time audiophile - 30+ years - I have owned a variety of big name brand of speaker - B&W, Thiel, Wharfedale and these babies are without a doubt the best sounding speakers that I have owned. They play all genres without effort and without compromise. Fast, tight sweet, airy - how do they do it for this low price?

Get them, but hurry
They sound neutral, homogenous and adapted well to all types of music. Bass is precise - clean and fast. Mids are as authentic and bettter than anything in this price class. Highs have the perfect mix of crispness with a soft presentation. All in all, It adds up to a neutral and balanced sound that's really fun and entertaining. If you can manage to get them for a nice price - like I did - buy them, but spend the extra on with good quality equipment and cables because they will make a difference in your musical enjoyment.
Great Speaker From Monitor Audio
The Monitor Audio Silver 8 is a great sounding speaker. Immediately out of the box I could hear things with the Silver 8 that I wasn’t hearing with my old speakers. I’m using the NAD 275BEE amp for power and my room dimensions are 13.5 feet wide by 22 feet deep. The Silver 8s are quite adequate to fill the room with clear midrange, nice highs and deep tight bass. I’m excited to hear what they sound like after the 60 to 70-hour break-in period. I chose the black gloss and they look great. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
