"Recommended Component" 2007 - Stereophile magazine
"Editor's Choice" 2006 - The Absolute Sound magazine
"Editor's Pick" - Home Theater Magazine
"Best of Show" - Stereo Mojo
Peachtree Audio's Design 4 is a true high-end speaker in every way. This speaker has caught the hearts of reviewers and customers alike with its larger-than-life musical presentation. Awards include "Recommended Component" status in Stereophile magazine, The Absolute Sound magazine's "Editor's Choice" Award, Home Theater Magazine's "Editor's Pick," and Stereo Mojo's "Best of Show." Positive reviews are numerous.
Bass sounds natural and strong due to the long throw, vented voice coil drivers and cast baskets. The D4 is internally braced with a one-inch-thick MDF, so when you lift one of these babies, you feel and see a high level of craftsmanship.
Peachtree voiced the D4 so that the speaker can be placed very close to a wall without suffering from bloated bass response. The binding posts and back plate are among the best you can get, and the grill even has a baffle blanket so that the speakers sound as good with the grills on as they do off.
"Cause for Both Consternation and Optimism"
In the June/July 2006 issue of The Absolute Sound magazine, Robert A. Harley calls the Design 4 "cause for both consternation and optimism; consternation that many customers will spend the same or more on mass-market dreck, and optimism that sound this good can be had for so little money."
Their extraordinary stereo imaging, grain free treble, and clean, detailed midrange deserve to be heard by those wanting to spend more than this on a pair of floor-standers," reports John Atkinson in his Stereophile review for January 2007.
Designing the Design Series
If you’re in the market for a small, elegant speaker system that must blend with your décor as well as sound great, Peachtree Audio speakers maybe perfect for you. The Design 4 and Design 5 were created as high-end lifestyle speakers that blend with Peachtree Audio integrated amplifiers or any high quality system. Prior to 2011, the speaker brand name was Era Acoustics, but Era has not been 'rolled' into Peachtree Audio.
Peachtree Audio's goal with the D4 and D5 was to build audiophile grade speakers that extend low enough for a subwoofer to be optional. Custom drivers were required to meet the demanding specifications and Michael Kelly of Aerial Acoustics did the honors. After almost a year in development, the drivers were finally ready to be fitted in their new cabinets and be voiced by Peachtree owners Jim Spainhour and David Solomon.
Peachtree speakers reproduce astonishing bass. The Design 4 satellites have an in-room response down to 58 Hz, and this is with a 4” driver! The Design 5 satellites drop to 50 Hz.
Craftsmanship, Care, and Attention
Each cabinet is constructed from 3/4" to 1" MDF and heavily braced. The cabinets are cut with the finest European CNC machines, so joints are measured by the micron and each joint is absolutely perfect. A great deal of craftsmanship, care, and attention to detail goes into every speaker. This is a product that you’ll be proud to own. Each speaker is built to last a lifetime.
Finishes include real wood book-matched Rosewood, Cherry and Piano Gloss Black. The exotic veneers are sanded, smoothed and hand polished, giving the cabinet the finest finish you’re likely to see on speakers at any price. The finishes match the Peachtree Audio amplifiers for added cosmetic appeal. |
