32 Years of Audio Excellence
A Letter From the Founder & President

Dear Friends,

Many of you have written to tell me that you've been following our company through the years and enjoy reading our catalogs. We've created over 250 catalogs over the past three decades. Each one of them has been a fun challenge for our design team, writer, proofreaders, and everybody else involved in their production.
Thirty-two years. It seems unreal to say that we've been in business for so long. When I started Audio Advisor in the spare bedroom of my apartment in downtown Grand Rapids back in 1981, I had no idea that the company would eventually grow into the largest seller of high-end audio gear in America - and possibly in the world.
I started Audio Advisor to pursue two passions. The first was my passion for music. I remember as a teenager lying on the living room floor and listening to Dennis Elsis and Scott Muni on WNEW-NY. The rock and progressive rock music that they played was a great escape for me.
My second passion was great-sounding audio gear. Moving from the New York metropolitan area to Grand Rapids, I had difficulty finding quality audiophile gear. I figured other people around the country would have a similar problem, so I started Audio Advisor to fill that need.
These days when I'm not designing catalogs or sourcing great new gear, I am passionate about my two children and travel adventures. Before I became a dad, I spent a decade climbing mountains around the world with a group from Colorado. Now with some members of the same group, I enjoy long distance bicycle touring through the mountains and deserts of Colorado, California, Montana, and more.
I also share travel adventures with my children, Danny and Lily, like swimming with dolphins or going out on a deep sea fishing expedition. Recently, Danny has expressed a desire to start climbing mountains with me. I can't wait to get started!
I hope that my passions for music and audio inspire you to fulfill your own adventures.
Good Listening,

Wayne Schuurman, President

P.S. One more thing that I am passionate about is excellence. I loathe mediocrity and always pursue excellence in everything I do. That's why your satisfaction means so much to us. If for any reason you are not satisfied with our service, we are not satisfied, either. Please let us know!
