Images shown in silver finish. Wide Bandwidth Performance and Ultra Low DistortionLow output moving coil cartridges are well loved for their detail and nuance. But they require more gain than what most active preamps can provide. Too much active gain for these low-output cartridges introduces noise and distortion. So, let your first gain stage be the Bryston TF-2 passive phono step-up transformer. The TF-2 adds 20 of gain using high-quality wide bandwidth transformers and no active parts. Use the TF-2 with a Bryston BP-2 MM/MC active gain stage or with your existing phono preamp. Wide Bandwidth PerformanceThe fully passive design of the TF-2 provides wide bandwidth performance with very low phase shift. The high common mode rejection is an impressive 120dB at 60Hz. The frequency response is 0.5dB at 20Hz, 0.1dB at 20kHz, and 40dBu 20Hz to 20kHz, with total harmonic distortion (@1kHz, -60dBu) of a vanishingly low <0.001%. The output impedance is 4.71k ohm. The TF-2 has an all-steel chassis and top and is available with either a silver or black faceplate. Inputs consist of one stereo pair of RCA plus a turntable ground connection. The outputs consist of one stereo pair of RCA connections.
