With all the focus on hi-res audio sources these days, from downloadable files to audio available on SACD and multi-channel Blu-ray or DVD audio discs, standard CDs might seem to have fallen by the wayside. That's unfortunate, because the old familiar shiny disc is highly capable of delivering goose-bump inducing music when you play it back on the proper equipment.

The CDP-9 is a superb sounding, highly accurate CD player that provides all-Red Book error-correction capabilities along with master-clock control of the entire decoding system, thus significantly lowering jitter for a significant performance upgrade. Unlike the vast majority of CD players on the market, the transport runs at a single speed (rather than at variable speeds) in order to minimize the impact of vibration and problems with unbalanced discs.

One pair each of unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR analog outputs allow you to plug the CDP-9 directly into your preamp, receiver, or other analog gear and enjoy a brand new upgraded listening experience with your CDs. But you can also take this talented player/transport even further. That's because the CDP-9 includes a high end DAC (ESS9028), together with selectable sampling rate converter for the digital output (up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD256). It can convert CD format to either SPDIF at highest sampling rate or DSD format up to DSD256.

In addition to the RCA and XLR analog outputs, the CDP-9 offers highly versatile digital outs, consisting of coaxial (DoP128, PCM192K), HDMI (i2s PCM384, DSD256), and optical (DoP64, PCM192K).

You can use the CDP-9 as an outboard DAC for other music sources, too. The inputs consist of coaxial, optical, USB, extension (for WR-100 & BTR-8), and digital AES, CD.

If all of this isn't enough, there is also a built-in dedicated headphone amp for beautiful private listening.
