"I designed the Pangea Audio AC Power Distribution Strips with the straightest possible path between the power in the wall and the audio or video components. There are zero current-limiting circuits or electronic components of any kind inside." Crazy, "Overkill" Outlet Insulators, Too"Another problem with standard AC wall receptacles is that they use a cheap nylon as an insulator in the outlets," Jay explains. "From my years developing components for x-ray equipment, I knew of an advanced polymer which has a much lower dielectric constant, making it a far better insulator. It also has a much higher voltage standoff. In fact, I've used it in X-Ray cable connectors that had to handle 250,000 volts." Firmly Gripping High-grade Copper ContactsAnother pet peeve that Jay has with standard AC outlets is that "almost all manufacturers use cheap thin brass for their AC contacts. Only a select few of those are even nickel plated to prevent corrosion in wet environments. This isn't really an improvement. I believe that nickel plating is detrimental to performance." "For our entry-level Premier AC receptacle I used extra-thick contacts made of copper-plated phosphor bronze. They firmly grip male AC plug prongs without letting go," said Jay. "It's a 20-amp outlet design – overkill, again, in some cases, I admit – but the outlet works perfectly with either 15-amp or 20-amp AC plugs. So Premier provides that extra versatility, too." Receptacle Mounting Bracket"Speaking of pet peeves," Jay continued. "Take a look at the flimsy mounting bracket most outlets feature to bolt the outlet to the wall box. I couldn't bear to have any of my outlets insecure, so I included a very thick metal mounting bracket instead.
