"Staggering Agility and Ability to Reveal Fine Detail"
Rega new Elicit-R high performance integrated amplifier has been designed and engineered to the highest standard to deliver the best possible audio performance while remaining simple to use and easy to setup. It offers power delivery of 105 watts-per-channel into 8 ohm; 127 watts-per-channel into 6 ohm, and 162 watts-per-channel into 4 ohm.
Rega's recent development work in amplifier design circuitry has allowed the company to further advance the Elicit-R performance by using new and improved power amplifier circuits based around the hugely successful Rega Brio-R amplifier.
These are combined with FET discrete line preamplifiers and a programmable stepped attenuator volume control to ensure greater levels of performance and control over the delivery of power. The Elicit-R is supplied with the new Solaris system wireless remote, offering full control over this and all of the current R range of electronics.
The Elicit-R received a top rating of Five Stars from England's What Hi-fi? magazine. "This really is one of the best stereo amplifiers we've heard at this price. Its staggering agility and ability to reveal fine detail is admirable, but what makes it truly impressive is how musical and interesting it sounds."
'Class A' Output Amplifier
The output amplifier used in the Elicit-R (and Brio-R) was born after extensive research by Rega's engineers to develop a low source impedance emitter follower 'Class A' driver stage. This is based around a complementary pair of 150-watt Sanken Darlington output transistors.
The technical and sonic improvement gained by the use of low impedance drivers is well known. However, it can lead to high standing currents in the driver stage when using standard transistor configurations. By combining the low impedance driver with the Sanken Darlington transistors (with their imbedded thermal bias network running at a lower standing current), this combination forms a complementary emitter follower emulating 'Class A' conditions with good thermal stability and lower standing currents in the driver stage.
Custom Volume Control
A few extravagantly priced, exotic high-end amplifiers use volume controls with a few dozen switched resistors to alter volume levels. The Elicit-R uses a custom chip, which contains 1024 resistors which alter volume and simultaneously retain correct input impedance. Only the resistors operate in the audio/music circuit. The programmed control and volume encoder are entirely separate so that the analog music signal is not compromised.
Built-in Moving Magnet Phono Stage
The Elicit-R includes a high quality built-in moving magnet phono stage designed to maximize the potential of your vinyl system. A simple switch on the rear panel allows the same input to be used as a line level input. This input is specially configured to offer further isolation and reduce noise. This makes it ideally suited for connecting more sensitive components, such as an external MM or MC phono stage.
If your system is not vinyl based, the same socket allows this line input to be used with any line level product (such as a CD player or DAC) ensuring maximized connectivity via the back panel.
Other audiophile features include polypropylene capacitors throughout the signal path, improved power supplies, increased output power to 100 watts-per-channel, and a brand new custom designed case.
