Special Model Planar 3 Celebrates 50 Years of Rega Turntable Excellence

Rega celebrates its 50th Anniversary with a very special edition of the legendary Rega Planar 3. This turntable package was designed and developed to maximize the performance that's possible from this esteemed model. As part of the celebration, Rega has put this anniversary package together at an incredible price that won't be repeated!

Presented in the hugely popular new walnut effect finish, the 50th anniversary Planar 3 is supplied with a hand-tuned Neo PSU MK2 and the handmade Rega Exact moving magnet cartridge factory fitted. The drive system uses Rega's Reference EBLT drive belt and Rega's 24V motor fitted with a custom CNC’d aluminum drive pulley to deliver the absolute best in performance and accuracy. Additionally, the Anniversary Edition is badged with exclusive aluminum plinth and lid badges for the finishing touch.

New RB330 Tonearm

The RB330 tonearm was designed using the latest 3D CAD & CAM technology and is the culmination of more than 35 years of tonearm design experience.

Featuring a brand-new bearing housing and Rega's latest tonearm tube designed using intelligent redistribution of mass, this arm exhibits fewer points of possible resonance. Extreme stability with almost friction-free movement from the new high precision bearing assemblies guarantees to gather more information from your vinyl than ever before.

Beautiful Walnut-Effect Plinth

The Planar 3 50th Anniversary Edition boasts a Walnut-effect laminated plinth. Rega pioneered the use of lightweight rigid plinths. Clever use of lightweight particulate core with a highly rigid phenolic resin skin became the foundations of the high level of performance achieved by the now iconic Planar range.

The motor is special, too. The 24 V low noise low voltage precision motor and PCB assembly, fitted with a custom CNC machined aluminum pulley.

High-Performance Glass Platter

This 12mm-thick (0.5"), 295mm-diameter (11.6") platter is made from float glass with an ‘Optiwhite’ polished edge. It looks stunning and is a high-performance, precision engineered platter.

The Rega-designed patented brass main hub central bearing offers improved fit and construction reducing stress on the bearing itself.

Rega Exact MM Phono Cartridge Included

Included pre-installed is the Exact, Rega's flagship handmade MM moving magnet cartridge. It's built to the tightest achievable tolerances and using an advanced ‘Vital’ profile, (a complex fine line micro-ground from a rectangular diamond billet). This advanced profile is guaranteed to extract more music from your vinyl by using its unique profile to track the grooves with greater accuracy.

Each Exact uses a pair of the highest grade in house wound parallel coils. The selected coil-set is carefully assembled in a custom jig to create the tightest possible pole gap in the moving magnet range. Achieving an incredible fine channel balance figure of ±0.1 mV the Exact delivers the best stereo image and highest output available from Rega's magnet range.

Double Brace Technology

The Planar 3 50th Anniversary Edition has a 3 mm phenolic bottom brace and metalized skin phenolic top brace. The 50th anniversary Planar 3 uses a lightweight laminated plinth strengthened using our double brace system. Mounted specifically where the increased rigidity is required (between the tonearm mounting and the main hub bearing) this forms a structurally sound “stressed beam” assembly.

This rigid plinth design prevents energy absorption and unwanted resonance, which will add unnatural distortions to the music. Equally, heavier mass can transfer more unwanted energy, such as motor or bearing noise directly into the rotating record.

The use of braces instead of the complete skin allows double thickness phenolic resin in these key areas while providing further weight reduction to the plinth, which directly addresses the issue of mass absorption and unwanted energy transmission.

Advanced Neo MK2 PSU

The Neo MK2 PSU is an advanced turntable power supply providing user controllable fine speed adjustment, an advanced anti-vibration motor circuit and the convenience of electronic speed change. The Neo MK2 reduces motor noise, while improving speed stability and rotational speed accuracy.

A dust cover is included as standard.
