40 Years of Audio Excellence
A Letter From the Founder & President

Dear Friends,

Pico de Orizaba - 18,555 ft
Yes, that’s me on top of Orizaba, the highest mountain in Mexico. After this ascent I went on to climb even taller peaks in Ecuador and Bolivia. It was all great fun, however, I gave up climbing for a few years after my kids were born.
Forty years! It’s hard to imagine that I’ve been selling audio gear for that many years. When I started Audio Advisor in the spare bedroom of my apartment in downtown Grand Rapids back in 1981, I had no idea that the company would eventually grow into the largest seller of high-end audio gear in America - and possibly in the world. The time has gone quickly because I’m still having fun. I’ve always enjoyed helping a customer get more pleasure from their music.
I started Audio Advisor to pursue two passions. The first was my passion for music. I remember as a teenager lying on the living room floor and listening with headphones to Dennis Elsis and Scott Muni on WNEW-NY. The progressive rock music that they played was a great escape for me.
My second passion was for great-sounding audio gear. Moving from the New York metropolitan area to Grand Rapids, I had difficulty finding quality audiophile gear. I figured other people around the country would have a similar problem, so I started Audio Advisor to fill that need.
These days when I'm not designing catalogs or sourcing great new gear, I am passionate about my two children and adventure travel. I still enjoy hiking up the occasional peak with my kids, as well as scuba diving, and long distance bicycle tours through Colorado, California and Wyoming.
I hope that my passions for music and audio inspire you to fulfill your own adventures.
Good Listening,
Wayne Schuurman, President

P.S. One more thing I'm passionate about is excellence. Which is why your satisfaction means everything to me. If for any reason you are not satisfied with our service please let us know so we can make it right.
