Your SACDs Have Been Playing Through the Wrong DAC
A universal disc player will read an SACD perfectly well. What happens next is the problem: it converts that DSD using whatever converter the manufacturer could fit inside a mass-market player, and sends you the analog result.
The D.BOB takes a different route out. It sits on the player's HDMI output, extracts the digital audio before any conversion happens, and hands it to your own DAC over coaxial or optical. The disc stays digital until it reaches the converter you chose.
It pulls DSD64 from SACDs using the DoP protocol, and PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz from Blu-ray and DVD-Audio. It measures 8.5 by 4.75 by 1.75 inches, weighs 2.2 pounds and draws well under a watt.
Why It Is Allowed to Do That
Extracting digital audio from a disc is normally blocked, which is why nobody else's player lets you do it. The D.BOB is fully HDCP and copy-protection compliant, so it works with the protection rather than defeating it, and your player behaves exactly as it always did.
That compliance is why the HDMI pass-through matters. Video carries on to your television untouched, up to 4K at 60Hz, so the player's menus stay visible and you can still navigate a disc while its audio goes elsewhere.
Connections are deliberately few. HDMI in, HDMI out, coaxial S/PDIF on RCA and optical TOSLink, plus a mini-USB port used only for firmware updates. A 12V supply runs the whole thing.
Who Is This Best For?
- You own SACDs and a good DAC — the two have never been able to meet until now, and the D.BOB is what puts your disc layer through the converter you actually paid for.
- You have Blu-ray audio discs — PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz comes out the same way, so high-resolution video-disc releases stop being locked to the player's own electronics.
- You do not want to replace your player — the D.BOB upgrades the sound of the machine you already own for a fraction of what a high-end SACD transport costs.
- Your player still has to feed the television — HDMI passes video through to 4K60, so the disc menus and the picture carry on working normally.
- You want to extract digital audio from a disc player — that is the whole job — pair it with one of our DACs downstream
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Run an HDMI cable from your disc player into the D.BOB, and a second HDMI cable onward to your television or projector. The picture and the on-screen menus continue as before.
Then take the coaxial or optical output to a spare digital input on your DAC. Set the player to output its native bitstream, and the disc's own data reaches your converter untouched.

Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly does it extract?
DSD64 from SACDs, carried as DoP, and PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz from Blu-ray and other high-resolution discs.
Is this legal, and will my player object?
It is fully HDCP and copy-protection compliant, so it works within the protection your player expects rather than bypassing it.
Do I still get a picture?
Yes. HDMI passes video through to your display at up to 4K60, so menus and films carry on working while the audio goes to your DAC.
Which outputs does it have?
Coaxial S/PDIF on RCA and optical TOSLink for audio, plus the HDMI output for video. A mini-USB port handles firmware updates only.
Will it work with any disc player?
It is designed for universal players that output audio over HDMI. Call us at 800-942-0220 with your player's model and we will check before you order.
How big is it?
8.5 by 4.75 by 1.75 inches and 2.2 pounds, running from a 12V supply at well under a watt.

Note: Early runs of the D.BOB included a wall wart power supply. Future shipments will not include this unnecessary accessory. The 12V DC input is intended for use with a linear power supply or external battery power provided by the user. The packaging sleeves and manuals may continue to refer to its inclusion, but please ignore. The same goes for the "International Power Cable Adapters" mentioned on the sleeve and in the manual, which were never included in the package. This was a mix-up by GeerFab that went uncorrected until now. Our apologies for any inconvenience.
