A Full System in Your Palm
The MODEL M1 is barely larger than a hardcover book. Into that chassis Marantz packed its own sound, HEOS streaming, and real amplifier power. Class D amplification delivers 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Into 4 ohms it makes 125. That drives a genuine pair of bookshelf speakers with authority.
Marantz Musical Digital Filtering shapes the sound. Four-way binding posts take a wide range of speaker cable. A mono subwoofer output is there too. It extends the low end when you want it.
Every Service You Already Pay For
Built-in HEOS reaches a long list of services. Spotify, TIDAL and TIDAL HiRes, Amazon Music, Deezer and Deezer HiFi are all covered. So are Pandora, SiriusXM and more. Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth 4.2 handle casting from a phone.
HEOS also links the M1 into a multi-room system. It works alongside other HEOS-enabled Marantz and Denon gear. HDMI eARC brings your TV's audio in over one cable. Dolby Digital+ decoding is built in.
Put the Phone Down
Voice control works through Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri. Your existing TV remote can adjust the M1's volume directly. There is rarely a need to reach for a phone at all.
Built by Hand in Japan
The M1 is crafted in Shirakawa, Japan. It weighs under 5 pounds. It measures under 9 inches wide. That is small enough to disappear on a shelf, or on a media console.
A soft-touch finish, capacitive controls and a dimmable LED front panel do the rest. For its size, the feel is genuinely premium. The M1 won an EISA Award. It also took a 2025 Red Dot Design Award for its design.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Jay Garrett reviewed the M1 for StereoNET on September 17, 2025. He praised its "natural tonality that one rarely expects from a compact streaming amp," and heard a "fundamental warmth to the sound that prevents it from ever seeming analytical."
It handled music and film duty alike. Garrett wrote that it "renders better than Cambridge's Evo 150 SE" in some respects. He called the build "a high-quality component," despite the small size. StereoNET scored it 8 out of 10 and gave it an Applause Award.
What You Give Up for the Size
Garrett was clear about the trade-offs. There is no phono stage and no headphone amp. He also noted a "relative lack of connectivity" next to larger amplifiers. Even so, he recommends it "if you mostly stream music in smaller spaces or want a tidy way of upgrading audio from your telly."
Who Is This Streaming Amplifier Best For?
- You want serious sound in a small footprint — 100 watts per channel, in a chassis under 9 inches wide.
- You want your TV upgraded with one cable — HDMI eARC handles television sound, with Dolby Digital+ decoding.
- You stream from nearly every major service — built-in HEOS covers Spotify, TIDAL, Amazon Music, Deezer, and more.
- You want a system that grows — HEOS links the M1 with other HEOS-enabled Marantz and Denon components.
- If you play vinyl, the M1 has no phono stage — its stereo RCA input takes one of our phono preamplifiers, and the turntable is in.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Speakers go to the binding posts. Your TV goes to the HDMI eARC input, for one-cable television sound. A stereo RCA input covers one analog source. A mono subwoofer output extends the low end.
Everything else arrives wirelessly. Built-in Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Bluetooth handle it.
From there the HEOS app, a voice assistant, or your TV remote takes over.
