A Disc Player That Absorbed the Whole Front End
The SACD 30n plays SACD and CD, then keeps going. It has five digital inputs, a streaming platform, a headphone amplifier and a variable output. It can be the only source component in a system. That is unusual for a disc player.
Conversion is Marantz Musical Mastering, not an off-the-shelf chip set. MMM-Stream upsamples everything to DSD. MMM-Conversion then turns that into analog through a filter Marantz designed itself. It is the house sound, made deliberate.
The inputs are one coaxial and two optical. A USB-B takes PCM to 384kHz and DSD to 11.2MHz, and a USB-A reads files. HEOS, AirPlay 2 and Roon are built in, over Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Where the Measurements Land
From SACD, signal-to-noise measures 112dB with 0.0008% distortion and 109dB of dynamic range. From CD it is 104dB, 0.0015% and 98dB. Frequency response reaches 50kHz on SACD. Those are the figures a dedicated design buys you.
There are two analog output pairs, fixed and variable. Fixed gives 2.5 volts on SACD and 2.0 on CD; variable runs to 5.0 and 4.0. That variable pair is what lets the player feed a power amplifier directly.
A headphone amplifier with its own HDAM-SA2 circuit sits behind the front jack, delivering 50mW into 32 ohms with three gain settings. The chassis is 443 by 424 by 130mm and weighs 13.7kg.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Home Theater HiFi was direct about the build: "The Marantz SACD 30n has an exquisite look to it, with build quality to match."
On what it replaces, the same review notes there are "Plenty of inputs and outputs for use as a DAC, along with analog and digital outputs."
Who Is This Player Best For?
- You own SACDs and want them done properly — Marantz Musical Mastering converts the DSD layer through a filter the company designed itself, reaching 50kHz and 0.0008% distortion.
- You want one box at the front of the system — five digital inputs, HEOS streaming, Roon and AirPlay 2 mean a television, a computer and every service you use all arrive here.
- You may go straight to a power amplifier — the variable output runs to 5 volts with volume control, so a preamplifier becomes a choice rather than a requirement.
- You listen on headphones — a dedicated HDAM-SA2 headphone stage gives 50mW into 32 ohms with low, mid and high gain, so sensitive and demanding pairs both work.
- You want the digital outputs to stay useful — coaxial and optical are both fitted and can be switched off entirely when you are listening through the analog pair. Pair it with one of our integrated amplifiers to finish the system.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Run the fixed RCA outputs to a line input on your amplifier, or the variable pair straight into a power amplifier. SACD travels this route, converted inside the player.
A television goes in on optical, a disc source on coaxial, and a computer on USB-B. The network arrives over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and headphones plug into the front panel.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Marantz Musical Mastering?
Marantz's own conversion. MMM-Stream upsamples the signal to DSD and MMM-Conversion turns it into analog through a filter the company designed rather than bought.
Which digital inputs does it have?
One coaxial, two optical, a USB-B taking PCM to 384kHz and DSD to 11.2MHz, and a USB-A for files on a drive.
Can it drive a power amplifier directly?
Yes. The variable analog output reaches 5 volts on SACD with volume control, so it can feed a power amplifier without a preamplifier.
What streaming is built in?
HEOS, which covers Spotify Connect, Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon and more, plus AirPlay 2, Bluetooth and Roon Ready, over Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
What does the headphone output deliver?
50mW into 32 ohms from a dedicated HDAM-SA2 stage, with low, mid and high gain settings on a front-panel jack.
How big is it, and what is the warranty?
443 by 424 by 130mm and 13.7kg. Five years on parts and labor for the original purchaser, when bought new from an authorized dealer. It does not transfer if the unit is sold on.
