The advanced video processor supports 4K (3840 x 2160) upconversion, video pass through, and graphic user interface overlay. Elegant Exterior
Aesthetically, the AV7701 is a sophisticated and totally successful exercise in minimalist design. At first glance, you'll see just two knobs, the iconic Marantz porthole-style display and a smaller On/ Standby button. Look closely at the centered display. It provides an "at a glance" status check on input selection and gain setting. Immediately under this display, a drop-down door hides a vacuum fluorescent display, as well as secondary controls and connectors.
Less than 16" deep from front panel controls to rear panel connectors, the AV7701 fits where other preamp/processors often can't on a shelf or in a custom cabinet.
HDAM with Superior Audio Quality
The AV7701's audio circuitry includes Marantz's proprietary HDAM (Hyper-Dynamic Amplifier Module) circuits and Current Feedback topology. HDAMs combine the short signal path advantages of integrated circuits and opamps with the superior sound quality of separate circuit components. Because HDAMs are discrete designs, Marantz engineers are free to choose the parts best able to preserve the sonic details of your favorite sources.
Current feedback circuits usually exhibit faster rise and fall times and higher slew rates than their voltage feedback cousins. (Think of rise and fall times as an automobile's acceleration and braking capabilities respectively. Slew rate is analogous to a car's cornering ability.) As a consequence, current feedback designs track rapid sonic changes more accurately and thus sound more natural.
Vinyl aficionados will welcome the AV7701 as it includes a highly musical MM phono input implemented with the same current feedback technology that provides seamless octave-to-octave tonal balance for line-level inputs.
Audyssey Automated Set-up
Audyssey MultEQ XT makes set up especially easy. It uses test tones and unique processing to analyze the influence of your room on the sound. MultEQ then creates a very detailed equalization curve for each speaker to correct for the room's negative impact on sound quality. In addition, Dynamic Volume maintains constant audio levels by automatically reducing the perceived loudness of commercials, for example, to minimize their intrusiveness, and Dynamic EQ guarantees a satisfying balance of bass and treble at every volume, from very loud to very soft. It's just the thing for late-night screenings. Also included is Audyssey MultEQ Pro for custom installations and Audyssey DSX.
iPod/iPhone, USB and Bluetooth
The AV7701 makes your home entertainment world far, far larger than you imagined. In addition to conventional sources, the AV7701 gives you easy ways to listen to the music you've already stored on an iPhone or other portable music players. It can also show your photos on the big screen, stream audio from a wide variety of sources, and enjoy music from your Bluetooth-enabled devices wirelessly with the optional RX101 module.
The AV7701's Ethernet connection is DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) 1.5 and Windows 7 compliant. This means it's easier for you to access and enjoy digital music on your PC.
The AV7701 connects to your home network, interfacing with other connected components while putting you in touch with virtually everything on the web. You can utilize third-party I/P control systems, perform remote maintenance, and get firmware updates to make your system work better!

You can select different audio sources for different zones. Features include selectable zone component monitor, Zone 2 composite monitor, and Zone 2 HDMI monitor. Custom Installation and Remote Control
The RS-232C connector means your AV7701 is ready for the most advanced remote control systems, even "'whole house' approaches that integrate heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, security, and communications, with your home entertainment needs.
The AV7701 provides a 'Flasher In' jack for remote IR control applications, a Marantz RC-5 remote input and output for complete compatibility with legacy Marantz products, and an external IR (infrared) reception capabilities with the optional RX101 module.
