"Bass Junkies Will Love It"
The NHT Super8 is the perfect subwoofer for use with any high quality compact speaker that's a bit shy in the deep bass. It's simply magical when used with the NHT Super Zero 2.0. Like all NHT subwoofers, the Super8 is great for both home theater and stereo music listening and delivers true high-end deep bass performance without a high price tag.
"Bass junkies are going to love the new Super 8 subwoofer," notes BigPictureBigSound.com for October 2010. "Not only does it extend the system's response below 40 Hz, but it makes everything sound so precise."
A good sub will help your amplifier out by handling the deep bass and letting your amp handle the less-power-intensive midrange and high frequencies. Properly adjusted, a good subwoofer will blend seamlessly with your main speakers to create a huge full-range sound without huge speakers. Oh yeah, and it will scare the hell out of you sometimes too!
The Super8 is exactly that kind of subwoofer. Mate it with your powered speakers in a PC hi-fi application and hear things from your computer music you never knew was there. Add it to a brace of Super Zero 2.0s in a music or theater system in your smaller living room and you'll be stunned at how it fools you into thinking all the sound is coming from those tiny speakers. Connect it to almost any system in a small-to-medium sized room, turn on the tunes, and prepare to have a smile on your face.
Small Footprint, Big Impact
The Super 8 powered subwoofer is a minuscule 11" cube - barely bigger than the 8" driver contained within. The size of the sonic impact on your system is more like a small dog house-sized cube! The Super 8 powered subwoofer comes beautifully wrapped in the signature NHT gloss black finish. The Super 8 is a sealed system. It has no holes or ports that can interact with its surroundings making it ok to put it wherever it fits in your space instead of the other way around. It comes with four cool aluminum tippy-toes to keep it from skidding around while it's doing its thing on your rug. For those with hardwood or other kinds of slippery floors or surfaces, it also include four rubber pads.
NHT employs the same technology and processing power in the Super 8 powered subwoofer that it use is in its best subwoofer, the B-12d. The list of features starts with a beefy, but efficient 300-watt amplifier throttled back to 110 ideal watts, a PWM amplifier design with dedicated switching power supply. This super efficient amplifier converts most of the energy coming out the wall socket to sound, not heat, so you can rock out and still be green.
Sophisticated DSP Engine
The real voodoo though is found in the Super8's dedicated DSP engine. The DSP controls all the equalization and low and high pass filter functions. It basically keeps the subwoofer between the lines and helps it do things it's not supposed to be able to do, like play super loud, go super deep and have super control. The DSP's built-in limiter and compressor even protect the woofer from killing itself when you go into party mode. The speaker itself is a heavy-duty, long-throw pulp-cone marvel that was custom designed by NHT specifically for the Super 8's closed box, acoustic suspension design.
Connectivity
Connections include everything you need and nothing you don't for your stereo or surround sound setup. The Super 8 has an LFE input for connection to your receiver's sub out and stereo line inputs for your fancy 2-channel rig. There are also speaker level inputs and a high-pass (bass removed) speaker level output for use with stereo rigs without a subwoofer output. A phase control is included to help integrate the Super8's output with your satellites, and a Unique Movie/Music EQ gets a little bit of extra output for those special occasions. There's even a USB connection for use with a future NHT wireless audio adaptor.
Since the Super 8 uses a super-efficient, universal power supply, it can deliver its full output anywhere in the world on a diet of 100v to 240v, no adaptors needed. |
