Zbreeze Fan Helps Components Run Cool

Keep the air circulating around your AV components to help maintain them at peak performance and increase their longevity.

Parasound's half-rack size Zbreeze local area cooling fan draws heat away from components that are installed directly below it. Three premium ball-bearing whisper fans draw hot air in through Zbreeze's bottom and disperse it safely. This hot air is pushed out in two directions, through openings in its top cover, to prevent the component above it from baking, and through openings in its rear panel into the general cabinet air circulation.

Zbreeze delivers high air flow, greater than 90 cubic feet per minute at max speed.

Prevents Hot Spots from Forming

The Zbreeze is designed to run continuously while your system is turned on so it does not use a thermostat to switch it on and off. It prevents a local "hot spot" from forming rather than running at high speed to cool it down after it's already hot.

Continuous operation enables the fans in the Zbreeze to run slower for quieter operation and longer life. You can select the fan speed which is adequate to keep the local area from overheating. It will run quietest on its low fan speed setting and least quiet on its high fan speed setting.

Protect Your Power Amp

Multiple Zbreezes, installed at strategic locations in the equipment rack, will prolong equipment life and protect your investment. You can also place the Zbreeze directly above a free-standing power amplifier to help dissipate its heat and keep it running cooler. Most power amplifiers get hotter if they are driving low impedance speaker loads and when they're playing for a long time at high levels. The Zbreeze can prevent the power amp's thermal protection circuits from shutting it down.

Your Amp Can Run Harder and Longer, Too

Here's another great reason to get a Zbreeze. Most amps and receivers use their heatsink temperature as the measure of how much current is being drawn. If the heatsinks don't get as hot, the amp can run harder and longer than it could otherwise.

Using a Zbreeze with nearly any power amp will enable it run continuously at higher power. And it will help an amp work into lower impedance loads.

Advanced Control Options

Front panel controls let you choose low, medium, or high fan speed, and you can specify manual or automatic turn on and turn off. Three auto turn on modes give you lots of flexibility (12 Volt DC trigger, 120V AC, or front panel button). The convenient 12-volt trigger with delay option allows system integration.

  • Three large fans, ball bearing construction for long life
  • Selectable instant turn off or 10 minute delayed turn off
  • Three user-selectable fan speeds
  • High air flow, greater than 90 cubic feet / minute at max speed
  • Three auto turn on modes (12 Volt DC trigger, 120V AC, or front panel button)
  • Auto turn on mode disables front panel power button
  • Extra-quiet design, less than 33 dB noise
  • Switchable 115v / 230v operation
  • 1U half-rack space chassis
  • Air Flow: 25 CFM, fan speed low; 50 CFM, fan speed medium; 75 CFM, fan speed high
  • Acoustical Noise: 20 dB, fan speed low; 35 dB, fan speed medium; 50 dB, fan speed high
  • Power Requirement 110 - 120 V / 220 -240 V, 50 - 60 Hz 1.5 watts standby; 8 watts maximum fan speed
  • Dimensions 9.5" wide, 10" deep (with connectors), 2" high (with feet) or 1.75" high (panel only)
  • Weight: 3.6 lbs.
  • Parasound Warranty: 2 years parts, 2 years labor

Q. How does the Zbreeze work?

A. When Zbreeze is placed on a component, three premium 92 mm ball bearing whisper fans draw hot air into the Zbreeze through openings in its bottom. This hot air is pushed out in two directions, through openings in its top cover, to prevent the component above it from baking.

Q. Three fans? Audiophiles like quite when listening to music, won't the Zbreeze make a lot of noise?

A. In short, no. You can select the fan speed, which is adequate to keep the local area from overheating. It will run the most quietly on its low fan speed setting and least quietly on its high fan speed setting. Leaving the Zbreeze on all the time will allow it to cool the area most efficiently so that you can leave it on it's lowest speed setting. Much care was taken in sourcing the high quality fans used in the Zbreeze to keep operational noise to a minimum.

Q. How do I know if I need one?

A. Amplifiers obviously generate a lot of heat, especially when driving low impedance speakers. Cable/satellite boxes, Blu-ray players and other components with powerful processors generate heat as well. Put all these components in an enclosed area like an A/V cabinet and you can create quite a problem for yourself and your gear. One or more Zbreeze's will circulate that hot air away from your components and prolong the life of your equipment.

Q How does that prolong component life?

A. Heat has a very detrimental effect on the component parts inside your gear. Transistors resistors and integrated circuit chips are designed to work best at a given temperature. Over heating these sensitive parts can greatly reduce their longevity. One of the best features of the Zbreeze is its ability to run for ten minutes after shutting down your gear. Audio equipment is most at risk when it is first turned off and any existing cooling fans shut down (including audio gear that uses a cooling fan, as many AV receivers do). The heat continues to be created for some time after shut down, but with no place to go. Zbreeze prevents the components from cooking themselves and each other during this critical time.
