Entry-Level, High-Performance Component Video Cable
Component video offers amazing performance, but it requires a cable that can carry three high definition signals without interference. AudioQuest YIQ-1 is specially designed for the high-resolution demands of the latest generation of video components.
High-performance YIQ-1 uses large, low-resistance, solid core silver-plated LGC conductors insulated by HCF hard cell foam and wrapped in a 100 percent coverage shield.
YIQ-1's conductors are 2.5 percent silver and are 24 awg.
Why Component Video Connections are Superior
AudioQuest YIQ-1 component video cable includes three maximum-performance coaxial cables, one for each of the three component video signals. These are the "Y" or black-and-white picture signal, plus the "I" and "Q" signals (also known as the "Pb" and "Pr" signals) which contain all the color information.
In the composite video system, the black-and-white picture signal (or luminosity signal) is combined with the color signal in a single transmission, which your TV or monitor must separate on its own. With S-Video, the black-and-white picture signal is conveyed separately from the color information. While S-Video is good, component video provides a significant upgrade. The two channels of color information with component video compared to S-Video's single color channel deliver sharper, un-smeared, clearly defined colors.
Note that in order to take advantage of the benefits of the component video system, your TV and source components need to have component video connections.
Silver Gives It the Edge
For maximum signal transfer, AudioQuest YIQ-1 uses large, low-resistance, solid core, silver-plated LGC (Long Grain Copper) conductors insulated by hard cell foam. Long Grain Copper provides a smooth and pure medium for the silver plating, and the silver provides an exceptional surface for the high-frequency video transmission. The conductors are then wrapped in a 100 percent shield to avoid interference between conductors. Hard cell foam minimizes distortion in the insulation.
Proprietary AudioQuest RCA plugs feature thick silver plating and do not cause reflections that can degrade picture quality. The plugs are welded to YIQ-1 by sending 8,000 amperes through the cable and plug for 33 millionths of a second. This is far superior to soldered connections and does not result in heat damage to the dielectric.
A UL/CL3 rating certifies YIQ-1 for in-wall use. That makes it ideal for large home theater installations or multi-room AV systems. |
