Compact Version of Bestselling Soloist
The Soloist SL is a compact version of Burson's award winning Soloist. Its DNA is identical to that of the Soloist and it exists for one purpose only, which is to be one of the best headphone amplifiers in the world.
Just like the Soloist, the Soloist SL is completely discrete in design. No integrated circuits are used. It features the same 21-component Field Effect Transistor input stage and the same discrete power supply network as the original. Assembled with the same high-end components and operating in pure 'Class A,' the Soloist SL carries the same organic and transparent sonic signature.
Measuring only 5.5" wide, 3.1" high, and 8.2" deep, The Soloist SL sits elegantly on any desktop. But it delivers two-watts per channel into 16 ohms, making it one of the most powerful headphone amps in the world. It is capable of driving most if not all headphones to their full potential. Coupled with a two-level gain switch, it offers a huge amount of flexibility.
Variable Output Stage (VOS)
The Soloist features a new Variable Output Stage (VOS), which enables the Soloist to match well with any type of headphone, from easy-to-drive high sensitivity in-ear monitors, to open-back moving-coil designs, to more difficult-to-drive planar magnetic headphones. It drives them all superbly. From a low level output of 0.18 WPC to a big 2 WPC, the Soloist SL will ensure that there is plenty of fine control for every type of headphone out there.
Combining the VOS with a high quality ALPS Potentiometer ensures that the volume control is always smooth.
Clean Power
Just like an athlete needs clean air to perform at an optimum standard, audio equipment needs clean power to reproduce transparent and natural music.
The Soloist SL has taken the already fanatical IC-free power supply of the first generation HA-160 to the next level. The new generation of power supply is built around a new noise-filtering network that employed twice as many filtering stages compared to the previous design resulting in superior noise rejection. The new power supply is fed by a new custom-built low noise transformer. The result is pure music against a pitch-black background.
Precision Aluminum Case
The Soloist SL is housed in a refined and precision 3mm-thick aluminum case that is unmistakably Burson. This case also works as a heatsink for the entire component, ensuring stable and optimized performance at all times. |
