Don't Let the Small Size Fool You
Mike Creek has raised the bar on headphone amps yet again. And true to his design philosophy, he manages to pack huge amounts of performance into a compact unit that's priced exceptionally low for all you get.
Don't be fooled by the small scale of the Creek OBH-21. The miniature size is actually quite practical. It is more efficient to use a small amp to drive headphones rather than wasting the power of a large amp. And the sound from the Creek is anything but small. And it's a mammoth bargain, too!
Drives Two Pairs of Headphones
The OBH21 is specifically designed to drive two pairs of low to medium impedance headphones from a line level source. An average output CD player can be connected directly to the input of the Creek. You can also use it in conjunction with a stand-alone preamplifier or integrated amplifier that lacks headphone outputs. Output level is controlled by the high-quality volume control on the front panel.
Headphones connect to the OBH21 via two quality headphone jacks on the stylish aluminum front panel with a silver finish. If you are using the Creek with two headphones at once, the output from each headphone jack will be identical. However, if you are using only one pair of headphones, the impedance on each jack will be different. This feature is designed to provide the best possible match with your particular headphones. Try each jack to get the best result.
There are two pairs of stereo jacks on the rear panel. The first pair is the input from any line-level source. The second pair is an output that lets you 'chain link' the audio signal to the next component in your system.
