"A Winner - Big Time"
The name promises intrigue, sterling performance, and a rich experience designed to pamper you. The Goldfinger V2 moving coil cartridge from Clearaudio makes good on the promise and delivers audio performance second to none.
"The Goldfinger is a winner - big time," reports Mike Malinowski in his June 2006 review for SixMoons.com. "Just one drop of the needle and you know that you are in store for something special."
A Breakthrough in Analog Reproduction
Clearaudio has significantly improved the fully symmetrical design of its moving coil cartridges, which was first patented in 1980. Clearaudio redesigned the generator in a revolutionary way by positioning and doubling the magnets (to eight pieces versus the original four) so that the coils are operating in a much stronger magnetic field. And the company chose the strongest magnetic material available: super neodymium. Through these achievements, the efficiency has been raised by 30 percent, which results in an output of up to 0.9 mV at 5cm/sec.
A clear breakthrough in analog music reproduction has been achieved with this new MC v2 cartridge generation. The new generation is able to reproduce a dynamic range of 100 dB with a frequency response of 10 Hz up to 100 kHz.
The new Micro-HD Diamond tip provides a hybrid parabolic geometry with a stylus radii of 0.008mm x 0.040mm. The total mass (0.00016g) is a fifth of the previous diamond stylus.
Twelve-Finger Cartridge Body
Cartridge body resonances, while tracking in the groove, are minimized through the twelve-finger design of the mounting plate, each finger with a different radius. This is the result of Clearaudio's constant research and development.
The cartridge body is, quite fittingly, made of gold. The generator construction is absolutely symmetrical: mechanically, magnetically and electrically. The moving coils in all V2 models use Clearaudio's proven 24 carat pure gold coils. |
