Legendary Hi-fi Sound Comes to Home Theater

What Hi-Fi? "Group Test Winner" for 2004
England's What Hi-Fi? magazine for January 2005 names the Epos ELS3 speaker series its "Group Test Winner" for the year, awarding it a top rating of Five Stars. According to the magazine, the ELS3 center channel speaker along with other Epos ELS3 speakers offer "scale, dynamic reach, impeccable timing, and a truly harmonious approach to music making… It's the system to beat as we enter 2005."
"The centre speaker, as might be expected, produces a well-judged, unceasingly human dialogue and communicates without restraint," reports an earlier 2004 issue of What Hi-Fi? magazine.
Dual Woofer Complement
The ELS3C uses a dual woofer complement for admirable low-frequency response. It features a pair of 5.1" polymer cone woofers with 1" high-temperature voice coil and an injection molded polypropylene cone mounted on an inert die-cast aluminum chassis. The 1" aluminum dome neodymium tweeter with high-temperature voice coil is an entirely new Epos design for fluid, effortless high-frequency performance. All the drivers are magnetically shielded for safe placement near a TV or monitor.
The crossover system is minimalist in design to maintain signal purity. The bass driver crossover uses just four components in a second order filter, while the tweeter crossover also uses four components in a third order filter at 3 kHz crossover.
To help keep the price tag low, the non-resonant MDF cabinet features a vinyl wrap finish with the rich look of light cherry wood. |
