Stunning 'Test' Tracks Show Off Your Hi-Fi System
England's Gramophone magazine calls the selections on Kimber Kables' IsoMike Experimental Recording System CD “some of the most exciting reproductions of live music I have ever heard."
This 4-Channel SACD - Hybrid disc includes excerpts of experimental IsoMike recordings that will show off both the strengths and weaknesses of your stereo and multi-channel hi-fi system.
This disc plays on CD players and SACD players and contains recordings in CD Stereo, SACD Stereo, and SACD Surround (4-Channel) formats.
Tracks 20 thru 25 are examples taken from a two-disc set by the Fry Street Quartet. Tracks 26 thru 28 are examples taken from a recording session of pianist Robert Silverman, with John Atkinson as producer.
The other tracks contain no gain changes or other such processing, so some tracks will be at a softer or louder level than other tracks. However, the dynamic range within a track is the same as the original live performance. All recordings were made at a low enough level to assure that no clipping occurred, therefore you may need to raise your volume control more than when playing some commercially available CDs where the volume has been normalized and/or compressed.
Use caution on first playing as some of the tracks do reach nearly 0dB. Several of the tracks might scare the cats! |
