The NR1403's advanced technology provides cutting-edge sound for all your movies and music. This 'slim line' receiver offers a number of features you typically just don't find at anywhere near this price, including Audyssey MultEQ auto setup. It offers 5.1 channels with a room-filling power delivery of 50-watts per channel of glorious sound.
Contribution to the awesome sound quality of the Marantz is an Analog Devices SHARC 32-bit processor. This cutting-edge device provides best-in-price-class performance for HD audio and home theater applications.
Audyssey Automated Setup
Audyssey MultEQ makes set up especially easy. It uses test tones and unique processing to analyze the influence of your room on the sound. MultEQ then creates a very detailed equalization curve for each speaker to correct for the room's negative impact on sound quality. In addition, Dynamic Volume maintains constant audio levels by automatically reducing the perceived loudness of commercials, for example, to minimize their intrusiveness, and Dynamic EQ makes guarantees a satisfying balance of bass and treble at every volume, from very loud to very soft; just the thing for late-night screenings.
Five Audio Channels for a Theater Experience
For an enveloping surround sound experience, the NR1403's amplifier delivers five 50-watt channels of equal power and quality. The result is a balanced sound field capable of faithfully reproducing the most demanding movie, gaming, and multi-channel audio.
A 2.1 channel preamp output offers system upgrade possibilities. Use the Dolby Pro Logic IIz feature to add vertical dimension to the front soundstage or add additional speakers to the rear of your room with Dolby Pro Logic IIx.
The NR1403's hi-definition audio support lets you take advantage of the latest surround sound formats. From Dolby TrueHD to DTS-HD Master audio, the NR1403's on-board decoding reproduces clear, uncompressed 5.1 audio via HDMI.
There's also a 192kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converter for all channels and an isolated audio circuit board for improved sound and minimal interference. Source Direct mode switches off all unused circuitry for the purest audio possible.
Six HDMI 1.4a Inputs
The NR1403 features six HDMI inputs that provide uncompressed video and audio with digital clarity. Support for Deep Color and x.v.Color schemes, which display a larger color range than standard-definition schemes, results in a lifelike, vibrant picture.
Using a single cable, you can easily connect any HDMI-equipped source or display to the receiver. With support for 3D-capable TVs and Blu-ray players, the NR1403 has you covered with HDMI 1.4a compatibility designed specifically for 3D.
Other Connections
For custom installation and automation purposes the NR1403 accepts a flasher input. The NR1403 features preamp outputs for L/R and allows an external front channel amplifier like the Marantz MM7025 to be used to increase the power of the front L/R channels.
While this receiver might be entry level in terms of price, it certainly isn’t entry level in terms of features. Whether an end user wants to enjoy a movie in 3D, stream music via the optional Bluetooth port or the sonic benefits of Audyssey, the NR1403 makes these features and many more available at a highly affordable price.
Like all NR-series receivers, the NR1403 comes in a special low profile chassis that allows it to fit into almost any installation. At just over 4 inches high and 14 inches deep, it can fit on a standard-size shelf with room to spare. The slim design means extra space for all your cable connections without a cluttered look. |
