Raising the Bar Even Higher
When England's What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision? magazine gave Marantz's PM6003 the "Best Amplifier in its Class" award, the performance bar was well and truly raised for its successor, the PM6004 integrated amp.
Fortunately, Marantz design engineers enjoy nothing better than a real challenge. And they seized this upgrade opportunity to further improve this already excellent amplifier by refining the sound and optimizing the balance from bass to midrange to highs for a performance full of harmony.
An Impressive Integrated
Integrated amplifiers are the best choice for anyone looking for superb performance without the complexity or cost of a comparable receiver or preamplifier/power amplifier combination. Their minimalist design (no tuner, no fancy processing) means that the engineering team concentrates on the essentials that directly contribute to better sound. So, depending on your point of view, you either get a lot more than you paid for or spent a lot less than you thought you would.
With its impressive array of inputs and outputs, the Marantz PM6004 amplifier offers an ideal way to consolidate all of your audio devices. The amplifier features exceptional audio engineering, allowing it to amplify sound without loss of fidelity or balance.
Discrete Preamp and Amp Sections
The PM6004 features audiophile-grade engineering. The strategic difference between the PM6003 and the new PM6004 is that now both the pre-amplification and power amplification sections exclusively feature discrete components, with not a single IC employed. Specially selected single components not only outperform ICs in quality, they also make it possible to refine the sound in much more detail, resulting in more clarity and transparency in the sound stage.
The lower impedance toroidal transformer with case-shield has been retained, along with the customized main capacitors and the potential power transistor, which is mounted on the extruded aluminum heat sink and can easily handle higher currents to keep close control of speakers. All of this proven, superior technology has been passed along from the PM6003. So have all of the original features, such as six-line audio input, two-pairs of gold-plated speaker connections with the convenience of bi-wiring, and a wireless remote control.
The RC-5 input and output enables one-button turn-on and control of Marantz source components like the new CD6004, using only the included PM6004 remote control.
Current Feedback Design
The PM6004 uses current feedback design. This extraordinary circuit accurately tracks quickly changing, wide bandwidth musical signals for greater resolution of fine musical detail. The PM6004 delivers a highly musical 45-watts-per-channel at 8 ohms and 60-watts-per-channel at 4 ohms using Marantz's Current Feedback Technology for superb sound quality.
Built-in MM Phono Stage
Attention to detail is the order of the day with the PM6004. Each of the line level inputs and the phono input feed a buffer circuit that minimizes any interaction between the source and the PM6004. That's right, we said a phono input. The built-in MM moving magnet phono stage lets you connect a turntable and will do your vinyl proud. And there's a Source Direct switch so you can bypass tone and balance controls for the shortest signal path from input to output.
Want to record your favorite sources? Just connect the recording device of your choice to the Record Out jacks and begin! Connecting speakers is easy, too. Marantz-designed loudspeaker terminals are easy to use and let you see if there are any problems with your wiring. You can connect two sets of speakers to the PM6004, which includes a 'Speaker A/B' selection control.
Easy, Intuitive Control Panel and Remote Control
The PM6004 is exceptionally easy to use thanks to an intuitive control scheme. The front panel provides quick access to basic controls, such as power and volume. An input selector knob allows you to seamlessly switch between input devices, while bass, treble, and balance knobs let you tailor sound balance to your liking. The amplifier also features a loudness mode, which can be toggled at the push of a button. The included remote control provides another easy way to control amplifier functions. |
