"Reviewers' Choice" 2012 - SoundStage!
Extraordinary Sound and Input Flexibility
Ditch the digital for just a bit and experience how much mindboggling realism that vinyl recordings can offer you. The Musical Fidelity M1 ViNL is a state-of-the art MM/MC phono stage with adjustable input capacitance, input resistance, and RIAA/IEC equalization curves with single ended and balanced outputs.
"I was thoroughly impressed with the performance of the Musical Fidelity M1 ViNL," reports S. Andrea Sundaram in his April 2012 review for SoundStage!. "It’s the cleanest, clearest phono preamplifier I’ve heard in my system." SoundStage! was so impressed that it awarded the M1 ViNL its "Reviewers' Choice" recommendation.
The M1 ViNL has extraordinary input flexibility. With MM moving magnet phono cartridges, it offers 47k or 68k input impedance. Input capacitance has seven values; 50PF, 100PF, 150PF, 200PF, 250PF, 300PF, 350PF, 400PF. This extraordinary flexibility means perfect matching for almost any MM cartridge.
The MC moving coil phono cartridge stage has ultra flexible input impedance switching, offering settings of 10R, 18R, 25R, 50R, 100R, 200R, 400R, 800R, 1600R and 47K.
The ViNL has switchable RIAA and IEC equalization, too. But that's not all. The ViNL has another important feature, too. You can switch resistance, capacitance, or equalization curve while it is playing, giving you extraordinary flexibility and functionality in tailoring the sound of your music.
The balanced XLR outputs let you take full advantage of the sonic potential of the ViNL. Single-ended RCA outputs are also included.
No-Compromise Technical Performance
The ViNL's technical performance is at the no-compromise, state-of-the-art level. The circuitry is based around Musical Fidelity's revered KW phono stage, but with modern technology, which provides a step up from that incredible standard. ViNL employs ultra low noise instrumentation amplifiers (the highest quality available). The RIAA EQ curve extends up to 50 kHz within 0.2 dB. Distortion is almost non-existent, and the noise is on the threshold of what can be achieved. The crosstalk is outstandingly minimal.
The ViNL's incredible input flexibility and performance, result in an extraordinary product. Musical Fidelity Founder and President Anthony Michaelson says, "As far as we can see, the only problem is that it may not be expensive enough to be believable!" |
