Things have changed a lot in the last few years. An increasing number of music lovers buy, store, and listen to music through their computer, media server, iPod, or other brand mp3 player. And many people also digitally distribute their music via Sonos, Squeezebox, or other digital music distribution system.
Digital formats are a great way to explore and appreciate music, but generally the sound quality of the music suffers. Until now, music lovers have been forced to rely on the inferior digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and sound cards. As a result, they aren't enjoying their favorite performances as much as they should, because the realism just isn't there.
Significantly Improves Sound Quality
Music Hall designed the dac25.3 digital-to-analog converter to directly address this problem. It significantly improves the sound quality of digital music files. By uniting a state-of-the-art digital-to-analog converter with a vacuum tube output stage, the dac25.3 delivers the clarity and precision of a 24-bit DAC with the warm, rich, open sound people that people love about vacuum tubes.
Coaxial, Optical, XLR, and USB Inputs
The Music Hall dac25.3 has four digital inputs which can accept any coax (s/pdif), optical, XLR (AES/EBU), or USB digital input from an iPod, PC, media server, Sonos, Squeezebox, CD/DVD stereo transport, or CD player with digital outputs. And it will output two channel analog stereo.
Incredible Dynamic Range Plus Upsampling
The dac25.3 features the latest Texas Instruments (formerly Burr-Brown) PCM1796 24-bit, 192 kHz, advanced segment, stereo audio, digital-to-analog converter. This processor features an incredible 123 dB dynamic range, an 8-times oversampling digital filter, and a vanishing 0.0005% THD. The dac25.3 upsamples to either 96 kHz or 192 kHz via a front panel control.
Precision Reclocking and Anti-Jitter
To achieve the best sound, Music Hall uses an advanced asynchronous reclocking and anti-jitter control system upstream of the PCM1796 DAC. It also uses the Philips 74HC574 in conjunction with the Ti SRC4192 Asynchronous Sample Rate Converter, whose master clock is a high precision active crystal oscillator.
The dac25.3 also features a large r-core high current oversize power supply. A headphone output is provided for convenient personal listening. |
