Monitor Audio RX6 Floorstanding Speaker
Monitor Audio's elegant floor-standing Silver RX6 design places the new wider bandwidth RX tweeter in concert with freshly designed 6" C-CAM bass and 6" C-CAM mid-bass drivers to form a balanced two-and-a-half way system. Separate chambers are used within the enclosure to provide differential tuning for the 6" drivers, producing higher efficiency and exceptional low frequency extension.
For such a slim, easy-to-position speaker, the innovative RX6 produces an extraordinarily wide bandwidth, enhanced with a natural tonality that breathes life into every format – even HD audio. An adjustable base plinth is supplied for added stability.
England's What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision magazine for October 2010 named a Monitor Audio home theater speaker system anchored by the RX6 as "Product of the Year" for 2010. "The RX6 floorstanders are an excellent basis for a surround system, in as much as they're expressive, detailed, tonally even-handed and barnstormingly dynamic."
"Deep, Dynamic Bass"
"The RX6 staggered me with its deep, dynamic bass," raves Brent Butterworth in the May 2010 issue of Sound + Vision. "The RX6's dynamics left me pining for a dumb, loud action movie... "
"If you're in the market for a new home-theater speaker system, or even a pair of stereo speakers that offer a genuine taste of the high end in a classy, high-quality package, you owe it to yourself to give the Silver RX system a serious audition," notes Aron Garrecht in his June 2010 review for Soundstage Network.
"Highly recommended!"
Ceramic-Coated Aluminum Magnesium Drivers
By refining its computer-aided Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Monitor Audio has developed new ways to shape its core driver material for even greater fidelity. C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminum/Magnesium) is very light and very strong, and so is ideal for the driver cones.
Monitor Audio's C-CAM gold dome tweeter now extends high frequency performance to beyond 35 kHz, enabling you to enjoy the full potential of current and future wide-band HD audio and home theater formats. A newly damped rear chamber provides greater control for a smoother more accurate response.
Advanced FEA simulations have also helped the process of fine tuning the RST (Rigid Surface Technology) C-CAM mid-bass drivers, originally created for Monitor Audio's celebrated Gold Reference speakers and now incorporated by the Silver RX range. Their super-stiff dimpled profiles are more resistant to break-up under high drive conditions and so produce a wider range of purer frequencies. Each driver's rigid, non magnetic cast polymer chassis is vented to improve airflow cooling and to equalize pressure around the driver motor, resulting in the ability to play louder and cleaner.
Bolt-through Driver Design
Single bolt-through driver fixings have the dual effect of improving cabinet rigidity while further reducing vibration at the driver/cabinet interface. By this innovative method, drivers are mounted on a single tensioned through-bolt, which is secured to the back of the cabinet. The bolt not only acts as a rigid cabinet brace to reduce box coloration, it removes the need for conventional driver fixings as well, effectively decoupling the driver and baffle to eliminate another source of unwanted resonance. The result is a more fluid communication of mid-range frequencies, and with the absence of front driver fixings, a cleaner more refined overall appearance, especially in tandem with RX's 'invisible' magnetic grille location.
HiVe II (High Velocity) Reflex Port
Developed for the flagship Gold Signature range, the HiVe II reflex port is shaped to have the same effect on airflow as a gun-barrel on a bullet. Rifled groves inside the port help to accelerate the flow and reduce turbulence, so that air moves in and out of the port more efficiently for a faster more dynamic bass response.
Monitor Audio Silver RX-Centre Center Channel Speaker
The role of a center channel speaker is to reproduce up to 60 percent of a movie soundtrack, including the critical dialog content. But to listen to some center speakers on the market, you would suspect that surprisingly little time is devoted to the design.
The exceptional Silver RX Centre from Monitor Audio proves the old adage that you get out what you put in. It's been very finely calibrated to match the dynamics and timbre of other RX speakers for a wonderfully open, detailed and seamless front sound stage in any RX system configuration.
Monitor Audio tuned the RX Centre's multi-driver components to deliver the optimal combination of sonic virtue and size, so that the velvet subtlety of whispers and the explosive force of action scenes are conveyed with equal priority by a compact design that's perfect for the role.
The Silver RX-Centre combines an advanced 6" RST cone C-CAM mid-bass driver with an 6" RST cone C-CAM bass driver and 1" C-CAM gold dome tweeter. The sealed cabinet design delivers accurate performance even when installed in cabinet or close to a wall.
Monitor Audio Silver CP In-Ceiling Speakers
Monitor Audio's Silver CP in-ceiling speakers are designed for ultra-discreet custom installations which remove the need for floor or stand mount speakers altogether. They work beautifully as surround sound speakers in a home theater installation.
If you place a high value on space, style and décor but would rather not compromise sound quality, the Silver CP speakers offer the same driver technologies as the Silver RX range in a back-box design, which flush mounts in the wall for a seamless blend with decor. Unlike many in-ceiling speakers, they provide a dedicated enclosure for the drivers, allowing a superior full-range performance, which is closer to that of their conventional Silver RX counterparts.
The Silver CP speakers will liberate living space and lend a sophisticated wire-free look to any room. By sharing driver technologies with the Silver RS speakers, they offer the additional flexibility to mix and match systems of floor, stand, in-ceiling and in-wall speakers for the perfect combination of sound quality and style anywhere in the home.
An additional high frequency control allow you to set-up the system precisely to obtain optimum performance within the listening environment.
Monitor Audio Silver RXW-12 Powered Subwoofer
For its success a multi-channel film sound mix relies on the profound structural underlay of a properly designed subwoofer. Not only can a high quality powered sub dredge frighteningly deep and dramatic frequencies from the mix, especially from HD audio soundtracks, it also adds a holistic solidity to the sound, helping you to suspend your disbelief.
And speaking of disbelief, your jaw may hit the floor when you experience the amount of powerful low bass that's produced by the surprisingly compact Silver RXW-12 sub. As Monitor Audio puts it, "The RXW-12 is equipped by our engineers to turn your system truly seismic."
Using the latest switch mode power conversion techniques, the RXW-12's new 500 watt RMS (1000-watt peak power) 'Class D' amplifier provides enough power to control with brutal efficiency a newly designed, 12" C-CAM driver, which is equipped with a double stack (two magnet) motor system and a massive 3" voice coil.
The RXW-12’s rigid, sealed 1” MDF enclosure is front-loaded because it promotes the fastest, deepest bass down to 20 Hz and also for ease of installation. Wherever you place it, top mounted controls are provided for convenient parameter adjustment. For added convenience, a 12V trigger provides power syncing with your AV receiver.
Two Equalization Presets
The EQ 1 setting will provide the best overall transient response and power output. This setting will provide a maximally flat response suitable for music or music video. Frequency roll off starts at 27 Hz.
The EQ 2 setting should be used when an emphasis in the low frequency is required. An additional boost of 4dB will be provided at 21Hz to give impact essential for action movies. You can toggle between the EQ1 and EQ2 to test which one is best suited to your environment. This is done by pressing the buttons located on the control panel.
Rear panel controls include Crossover Frequency Control, Low Pass Filter Switch, Phase Control Switch, Power Mode Switch (On-Auto-Off), and 12 V Trigger Input. On top of the sub you'll find a Volume Control (for fine tuning the volume) along with EQ 1 and EQ 2 equalization settings. Connections consist of RCA line level inputs and RCA line level outputs.
