Reference Class Headphone Amp and Preamp with Phono Stage
The NuPrime HPA-9 is a pure Class-A headphone amp and preamp that uses a zero feedback output stage for low temporal distortion and lifelike sound. The single-ended linear Class A design is capable of handling a wide range of headphone impedances from 16 to 1000 ohm, making it suitable for nearly any headphone make and model.
Single-ended JFET input stage circuitry design provides very good second harmonics for exceptional sonic realism. High input impedance, ultra-low input bias current, and a high signal-to-noise ratio contribute to the remarkable sound quality. Zero feedback output stage design provides low temporal distortion for an extremely natural quality.
Pure Class A Headphone Amp Design
The HPA-9's pure Class A headphone amp design provides sonic purity and supports up to three headphones simultaneously. The maximum headphone impedance support ranges from 8 ohms and up to 1k ohm. Although many headphones state that their nominal impedance is 300 Ohms, at some frequencies (100Hz for instance) the peak impedance is actually at around 700 ~ 800 ohms.
The Ins and Outs
The HPA-9's inputs consist of 1 x phono input and 2 x analog stereo RCA. Outputs consist of 1 x 3.5mm mini-plug headphone/earphone output, 2 x 6.3mm (1/4") headphone/earphone output, and 2 x analog RCA line out.
Built-in MM/MC Phono Stage
A nice bonus to the design of the HPA-9 is the inclusion of a high quality built-in phono stage. This allows you to use your turntable with receivers, integrated amps, and other gear that do not provide a phono capability. The phono (RIAA) input module in internally configurable to accommodate either an MM moving magnet or MC moving coil cartridge.
