Anything But Entry Level
The Alpha T1 is PSB's entry-level tower speaker in name only. Its performance is anything but what you would expect from a loudspeaker so affordable. Prepare to be amazed at its distinct performance ability, with brilliant highs and pronounced bass.
The engineers at PSB began by designing and building each speaker from scratch, so that the T1 could deliver the same level of performance typically found on speakers costing twice the price. Dual 5.25-inch woofer paired with a .75-inch ferrofluid-cooled tweeter form a D'Appolito array for increased on- and off-axis response, while yielding unusually wide dispersion.
That makes the T1 a perfect choice for front channel home theater duties. You'll also find the T1 to be a stellar performer in a stereo system.
"These speakers perform exactly as they are supposed to, sounding great at modest volume levels, without breaking the bank", reports Mark Smith in his December 2006 review for Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity.
Hand-built Drivers and Crossover
The Alpha T1 begins with a solid modular bass-reflex cabinet and loads it with PSB's newly designed, hand-built drivers and crossover network. The dual 5.25-inch injection molded metalized polypropylene cone woofers with damped rubber surround woofer are paired with a single .75-inch ferrofluid-cooled tweeter for a two-way design that is truly remarkable.
Designed 'From the Ground Up'
The design team at PSB worked tirelessly to build a speaker line from the ground up using technologies found in our higher-end offerings. The end result is an affordable speaker with a modern, yet simple look that has already received accolades from professional reviewers. From newly designed drivers to solid modular cabinets, the Alpha series is a tangible illustration of PSB's commitment to excellence and value.
The T1 has a 55-23,000 Hz frequency response, 91 dB sensitivity, 15-120 power rating, and measures 6-1/16" wide, 35-3/4" high, and 11-13/16" deep. |
