"It Energized the Room"
PSB's 300-watt, 12" SubSeries 300 is the first in a new line of subwoofer designs to be powered by NAD Electronics' sophisticated, high efficiency amplifier. NAD is renown in audiophile circles for its superb sounding and highly efficient amplification, and the NAD circuitry in the 300 is worthy of NAD's name and reputation.
The SubSeries 300 also features trickle-down technology from PSB's award-winning SubSeries 500 flagship, including the company's exclusive "smart bass" limiting circuitry. As a result, the SubSeries 300 offers a winning combination of power, high impact bass, and musicality.
"A Standout In Its Own Right"
"As spectacular as the Imagine T2s were solo, they still benefitted from the addition of the SubSeries 300 when it came to movies, reports Darryl Wilkinson in his November 2012 review for Home Theater magazine. "In fact, the SubSeries 300 is a standout in its own right. Although it’s short on beauty, it’s long on beast; and it energized the room with extremely low and controlled bass better than most other $1,000 subs."
Impressive Driver and Amplifier Complement
For thunderous bass response, the 300 boasts a long-throw 12" polypropylene cone driver with rubber surround, 2" voice coil, and 50 oz. magnet. The built-in Class D power amplifier from NAD Electronics uses a discrete design with MOSFET devices. This powerful amp delivers 300 watts continuous power, 425 watts dynamic power, and a dynamic peak of a huge 850 watts.
Front panel controls include Volume, Crossover, Phase, Auto On-Off, and LFE Input. Auto sensing circuitry takes the 300 out of standby mode when it detects a musical signal. And the 'green' design limits standby power consumption to an incredibly low value of less than 0.5 watts! |
