"Product of the Year Runner Up" 2012 - Sound+Vision Magazine

"Best Turntable up to £500" 2012 - What Hi-fi? Magazine

"Exceptional Value Award" 2012 - TONEAudio Magazine

New Version of a Turntable Classic – Now with a Carbon Tonearm

The first Debut turntable from Pro-Ject introduced in the late 1990s was a groundbreaking component in the hi-fi industry. For the first time after the arrival of the compact disc and the widely reported demise of vinyl records as a popular playback medium, an analog product re-emerged in the mass market and introduced a whole new generation of listeners to the turntable. Best of all, the original Debut was a product that all music lovers could afford.

The new Debut Carbon has been designed to set new standards in the affordable turntable category for the coming decade. Its debut is perfectly timed as analog today is again a respected source, while the demand for affordable, good sounding turntables steadily continues to increase.

"Remarkable, To Say the Least"

"That the Debut Carbon can approach the RP6's performance at 20 percent of its price is remarkable, to say the least," marvels Brent Butterworth in Sound+Vision magazine for September 20, 2012. "If I were buying a budget table tomorrow, this is the one."

Sound+Vision liked the Debut Carbon so much, the magazine named it "Product of the Year Runner Up" in its January 2013 issue, citing "its great performance, which came striking close to that of a $2,000 model."

"Impressively Clean and Insightful Sound"

England's What Hi-fi? magazine honored the Debut Carbon with its "Best Turntable up to £500" designation for 2012. "The Debut delivers an impressively clean and insightful sound, one that digs deep while keeping a firm hold of the overall musical structure. It’s not just clinical reproduction though – we’re taken with the Pro-ject’s expressive nature, too."

And the awards just keep on pouring in! The Debut won the "Exceptional Value Award" for 2012 from TONEAudio magazine. "It’s a fantastic place to start an analog crush, as it does a superb job with fundamentals. Moreover, when used in concert with modest gear, it provides musicality that MP3 players and inexpensive CD players cannot match.

"Hugely Talented"

"The Debut is a turntable that provides ‘pace and rhythm’ and is hugely talented when it comes to demanding engagement," notes MusicEmotion magazine from the Netherlands for June 2012. "Its vitality is expressed through each and every track."

"It is impressive how much sound quality you will get," concludes Bernhard Rietschel in Germany's AudioTest magazine for September 18, 2012.

Carbon Tube Tonearm

The most obvious improvement over the original model of the Debut is the inclusion of a high-tech carbon tube for the tonearm, which increases stiffness, decreases unwanted resonance, and eliminates coloration. This material normally is extensively used in high-end tonearms, but due to its high cost was never used in products at lower price levels. But it's here with the very affordable Debut Carbon with an advanced 8.6" carbon tonearm.

The Carbon Debut also includes other improvements over the original Debut turntable. These enhancements include an increase in platter size and weight to realize even smoother rotation. A new design in motor suspension using vibration absorbing sorbothane contributes to the greatly improved overall sound quality.

The Debut Carbon is available in high-gloss black or shiny red, green, blue, yellow, silver, or white at no additional cost. Included is a high-quality felt mat.

Includes an Ortofon Cartridge

The Debut Carbon not only includes a factory installed carbon tonearm, but it also comes with an Ortofon 2M Red moving magnet phono cartridge that's installed and ready to go. And because the Debut Carbon is easy to set up and operate, you'll be enjoying the pleasures of vinyl within minutes of opening the box!
