"Very Quiet and Clean" Digital Player
Most music lovers want to listen their digitally stored music collection without having to switch on their computer. The Pro-Ject Media Box S is the solution. It provides fast and easy access to your digital music files via three front-panel buttons or by using the included wireless remote.
The high contrast front-panel display shows you what you're listening to, providing all the essential details of playlists, artist, album, and track for navigation and playback. What could be easier?
"As to quality, the Media Box S, too, sounded very good," reports Daniel Kumin in his May 22, 2012 review for Sound+Vision magazine. "The little unit was very quiet and clean, and musical sound struck me as crisp and defined."
Excellent Sound Quality
Media Box S loves all types of media. It lets you plug SD cards, USB sticks, and USB hard drives right into the front panel. The wall plug power supply has enough juice to power USB hard drives. High-quality digital-to-audio conversion delivers excellent sound from digitally stored media. The DAC consists of a 24-bit, 96 kHz upsampling Texas Instruments TLV320AIC23B chipset.
The low-jitter design and massive metal casework contribute to the superb audio quality with MP3, WMA, and AAC files. The rear panel includes an RCA-type coaxial digital output should you wish to use your Media Box S with an outboard DAC. In fact, the Media Box S is the perfect partner for other components in Pro-Ject's spacing saving, value packed 'Box Design' series.
Does the Media Box S Play FLAC and WAV Files?
In designing its 'boxes,' Pro-Ject's engineers realized that you can get surprisingly good results with MP3, AAC, and WMA formats at the highest possible resolution of 320 kbps / 384 kbps. Its listening panels proved that the quality of the DA converters and output stage has more influence to the sound then the resolution only. So Pro-Ject decided to use a more conservative solution to keep the Media Box S as affordable as possible. |
