Smooth, Quiet Performance
Pro-Ject's Xperience Classic technology keeps operation smooth while helping to prevent noise from entering the signal chain. A quiet running AC motor with a two-step pulley drives the platter's outside edge via a belt. The transparent acrylic plinth resists vibration, and it stands on three height-adjustable Sorbothane-damped aluminum cones for isolation from room vibration. The motor is decoupled from the plinth to further reduce vibration transmission.
Sandwich-Construction Platter System
For signal purity, the Xperience Classic uses a resonance-optimized platter system in a sandwich construction consisting of the hub, finely-balanced medium density fiber platter weighing 4.4 lbs, a 4mm thick flat-ground layer of vinyl, and a screw-down metal record clamp. The platter's low-tolerance chrome-plated stainless-steel axle runs on a polished ball bearing in a sintered bronze bearing housing. The external power supply avoids potential electro-mechanical interference.
Connection to the phono input of your phono stage or integrated amplifier can be made using the cables of your choice via the gold plated phono jacks and ground screw. A basic cable is provided.
Pro-Ject 9cc Carbon-Fiber Tonearm
The custom Pro-Ject 9cc tonearm and arm tube are fashioned from a single piece of carbon-fiber. The conical carbon-fiber arm tube resists standing wave reflections for cleaner sound. The inverted tonearm bearing comprises four hardened stainless tips in ABEC7 spec ball races. Rings provide very solid arm bearing housings. The outside ring is open to avoid resonances.
Adjustability features ensure the best possible playback. The design of counterweight effectively counteracts unwanted resonances. The counterweight shaft lowered to the record level reduces cantilever forces and dynamic wow when playing warped records. The solid arm base permits accurate height adjustment of the arm tube and VTA (vertical tracking angle). The included counterweight is suitable for cartridges weighing between 6 and 10 grams. The single-screw attachment of the arm tube allows rotation for easy adjustment of needle azimuth despite the fixed headshell.
The internal wiring consists of flexible high-purity copper from the headshell right through to the gold-plated phono jacks. The silicone-damped arm lift can be adjusted to suit the working height of the arm.
