PS Audio's best-selling Quintet power conditioner now has a worthy successor. The new Dectet Power Center upgrades and improves upon its predecessor, offering unbelievable value in an affordable power solution for hi-fi and home-theater gear.
The 10-outlet Dectet is quite simply the best performing Power Center that PS Audio has ever built. "We’ve learned a lot through our many years of building and selling power conditioning products and we were able to use that knowledge base to be the best sounding Power Center in our company's history," says PS Audio's Paul McGowan.
Five Classic-Style Power Ports
The Dectet ushers in a whole new design and upgraded product category. Part of the innovation is a back-to-the-roots approach that uses the original Hubbell Power Ports for a huge quality upgrade. That’s $250 worth of high-end Hubbell outlets housed in one Dectet! The end result is more like a mini-component than a 'power strip.'
Big Cores and Heavier Wire Gauges
In the past, PS Audio relied on smaller cores with fewer turns of wire. But for this new generation of conditioners, the company returned to the big cores and heavier wire gauges it used so effectively in its popular Ultimate Outlet products. This ultimately equates to better performance.
Star Wiring for Improved Isolation
Additionally, the older designs relied upon heavy bus bars to deliver the power to each outlet. This approach worked well in a number of areas but had one weakness. The isolation between connected components could have been improved. Listening evaluations demonstrated that properly executed star wiring is really the preferred construction. It also means that each zone has its own wiring path back to the source.
"The improvements we heard of isolation and separation between connected equipment really sealed this for us," said McGowan. "The sound quality, coupled with the wonderful skill of our Boulder workforce, clinched the decision to go with star wiring throughout."
Built in Boulder
PS Audio's core products are all hand built to investment level standards in the company's modern production facilities in Boulder, Colorado. The new Dectet is made in the same facility as PS Audio's award winning PerfectWave products, including the P10 and P5 Power Plants, the DAC Mark II and PWT Transport. |
