"Mid-Priced Turntable of the Year" 2012 - The Absolute Sound Magazine

"Certified and Recommended" – Sound+Vision Magazine

"Great Value" Turntable with Arm and Cartridge

The Rega RP6 turntable has been designed and engineered to achieve outstanding performance way beyond the expectations of a product at its price point.

Omitting unnecessary gimmicks allowed Rega to concentrate the manufacturing costs on the high quality parts necessary to reproduce music accurately. The RP6 is fitted with a hand-assembled RB303 tonearm, precision main bearing, and a low vibration low noise 24-volt motor assembly, which is individually hand-tuned to its circuit to further reduce vibration. The minimalist design of the Rega RP6 and the use of extremely high quality components ensure that your turntable should last for many years.

"Confidently offering a sonic uplift over the RP3, the RP6 seems to tread sure-footedly through the most difficult recorded territory, unencumbered by any audible baggage of its own," notes Paul Miller in his Hi-Fi News magazine review for April 2012. "It comes recommended as a great value either way."

"Macro-dynamic Swing and Heft"

The January 2013 issue of The Absolute Sound magazine named the Rega RP6 "Mid-Priced Turntable of the Year" for 2012. "Along with very low noise and increased resolution, the RP6 delivers sonic qualities not always associated with Rega designs, specifically a depth and forcefulness to the low frequencies, along with a macro-dynamic swing and heft we typically associate with more massive designs."

"Analog Excellence Without the Fuss"

"If you want analog excellence without the fuss – this is the way to roll (or spin)," reports TONEAudio magazine. "The RP6 builds on the strengths of the RP3. If you have a small room and small speakers that lack serious low-frequency extension, the RP3 may well be a great place to hang your hat. However, if your system has good low-frequency capability, you’ll notice the extra authority the RP6 musters."

"It Sure Hooked Me"

"It sure hooked me," says Brent Butterworth in the June-July-August 2012 issue of Sound+Vision magazine. "I often find flaws in vinyl playback hard to listen through, but with the RP6 I found them nearly impossible to hear." The magazine awarded the RP6 its "Certifed & Recommended Award," noting that "it sounds fantastic."

RB303 Tonearm

Designed using the latest 3D CAD technology, the included RB303 is the culmination of more than 30 years of tonearm design experience. Due to advances in technology, Rega has been able to fine-tune the iconic RB300 tonearm design. The RB303 features a brand new tube with increased rigidity to the bearing housing, arm carrier, and headshell coupled with intelligent redistribution of mass. These advances ensure that this arm will exhibit fewer points of possible resonance. Extreme stability with almost friction-free movement from the high precision bearing assemblies will gather more information from your vinyl than ever before.

TT-PSU Power Supply

The compact TT-PSU outboard power supply for the RP6 uses a high stability, crystal-locked, low distortion sine wave generator. This, along with an efficient drive amplifier fed from a stabilized DC power supply, generates a 24-volt AC balanced signal of less than 0.05% distortion, which is completely unaffected by any changes in the mains/line voltage and conditions. This then drives the improved Rega anti-vibration circuit built into the RP6 motor PCB. The TT-PSU's push-button speed control frees you from having to move a belt to change speed.

Cast Aluminum Sub-Platter

The cast aluminum sub-platter is manufactured to the highest tolerance. It uses a six-point mounting system to ensure that the platter and the vinyl are presented as flat as possible to the stylus.

New DB 'Double Brace' Technology

Rega has pioneered the use of lightweight rigid plinths. Clever use of lightweight particulate core with a highly rigid phenolic resin skin became the foundations of the high level of performance achieved by the now iconic Planar turntable range. The latest generation of Rega turntables takes this design philosophy to the next level. A super lightweight plinth combined with a phenolic resin double brace mounted specifically where the increased rigidity is required (between the tonearm mounting and the main hub bearing) forms a structurally sound 'stressed beam' assembly.

This rigid plinth design prevents energy absorption and unwanted resonances that can add unnatural distortions to the music. Also, heavier mass can transfer more unwanted energy such as motor or bearing noise directly into the rotating record. The use of braces instead of the complete skin allows double thickness phenolic resin in these key areas while providing further weight reduction to the plinth which directly addresses the issue of mass absorption and unwanted energy transmission.

Glass Flywheel Platter

The RP6 features an innovative .6"-thick two-piece platter design constructed from float glass. Manufactured using a complex and labor intensive invisible UV curing bond technique, the secondary ring platter is permanently bonded to the underside of the main platter. The extra ring adds mass to the outer circumference, which increases the natural flywheel effect of the platter. The result is improved speed stability, accuracy, and consistency.

Rega Elys2 Phono Cartridge

You'll think you've landed in the fields of Elysium when you add the heavenly sound quality of the Rega Elys 2 MM phono cartridge to your Rega RP3. The Elys 2 uses an elliptical diamond stylus. High-specification parallel wound coils contribute to the superior sound quality. The mount relies on Rega's three-point system.
