Beautifully Designed CD Player Inside and Out
Vincent Audio's K-35 vacuum tube power amplifier deserves a source component that's its sonic equal. So Vincent's engineers created the lovely-to-look-at and beautiful-to-hear C-35 hybrid design CD player.
The hybrid vacuum tube and solid state design of this beautiful CD player lets you have it all. It delivers the luxurious sound that can only be obtained with finely-made vacuum tube equipment as well as the advantages associated with solid state designs, including speed, reliability, and control. That's a difficult combination to beat, especially once you factor in the affordable price.
"It Made the Music Seem to Flow Effortlessly"
"The C-35 demonstrated a solid, dimensional image with great depth. Yet it always made the music seem to flow effortlessly," notes Germany's Stereoplay magazine for February 22, 2012. "The idea of marrying traditional analog technology with digital isn't new, but it seldom results in the kind of rare symbiosis that we see here."
It's a Real Head Turner
No doubt about it, the C-35 is a real head turner. It sports a compelling visual design that recalls the best of classic 'Golden Age' hi-fi gear, but there's definitely a modern flourish to its appearance, too. And beneath the aluminum and acrylic chassis, 15 years of development and production for this level of CD player are hard at work producing a seemingly effortless flow of music.
Extensive listening sessions complemented each phase of the engineering process to ensure that the C-35 didn't simply look good on paper. It also had to deliver startlingly superb real world performance.
Impressive Tube Complement
Vincent made wise tube choices for the C-35. The 6N10 operates the headphone stage – which is far from a typical 'headphone output' as you can get. You'll love the fine resolution and expansive spatial qualities. This stage performs so well, in fact, that you may be tempted to never remove your headphones. But do let it add sophistication to your hi-fi system. A pair of 12AX7 miniature dual triode vacuum tubes in the output stage contribute to the rich sonic signature of the Vincent. They are also responsible for the C-35's voltage stabilization.
HDCD-Compatible DAC
The digital circuitry of the C-35 is as well conceived as the analog output section. An excellent Burr Brown PCM1732 chipset serves as the digital-to-analog converter. It has a resolution of 24-bit/96 kHz to get the best sound quality from your CDs. It is also completely compatible with HDCD discs. The C-35's DAC also provides 8-times oversampling.
The C-35 has analog RCA outputs and also includes a coaxial digital output, in case you want to use it as a high-end transport with an outboard DAC. But we doubt that you'll even be tempted to bypass the glorious sounding vacuum tube output circuitry.
The Vincent continues to please even after you switch it off, but its substantial appearance isn't just for looks. The hefty chassis provides a stable platform for the C-35's circuitry and helps protect the transport mechanism from room vibration.
Rounding out this impressive package is a substantial infrared wireless remote control. Unlike the plastic handsets that come with most audio components, this remote is made of metal. It feels substantial and is a pleasure to hold and operate.
A Great Partner for the Vincent K-35 Integrated Amp
Make sure to pair the C-35 with a high quality hi-fi component that will let all its attributes shine through. We recommend the new Vincent Audio K-35 integrated amp for the best sonic and aesthetic compatibility. But this is a CD player that will deliver bountiful please as part of any premium AV system. |
