All-Vacuum-Tube Output Stage
Although Vincent's new CD-S8 with vacuum tube output stage is making a big splash in audiophile circles, it isn't what you'd call a flash in the pan. This meticulously designed CD player was a full two-years in the making. Like a quality wine, it simply couldn't be rushed. Vincent's engineers made sure that every aspect of its construction not only met but also exceeded their highest expectations. It was intended to be the best sounding CD player available at any price, and it succeeds by any imaginable benchmark.
The proof, of course, is in the listening. If you ever imagined that digital equipment was destined to always take a backseat to analog playback systems, you're in for a pleasant surprise when you experience the Vincent. Pop in your favorite CD, close your eyes, and you can easily convince yourself that you're listening to an astronomically priced turntable rather than the reasonably priced Vincent CD-S8.
We mentioned CDs. But the Vincent boasts playback of HDCD discs, too - and in fact it shows off the full sonic potential of this all too frequently overlooked digital medium.
Premium Digital Technology
The CD-S8 proudly takes a central position in Vincent's PremiumLine of hi-fi components, which is the German company's flagship series. At the heart of this player is the Philips VAM1250 CD drive, known for its excellent optical reading performance, low playback noise, and long life expectancy.
The 24-bit DAC is Texas Instrument's esteemed PM1792 with a 192 kHz sampling rate. Its advanced segment DAC architecture achieves excellent dynamic performance and improved tolerance to clock jitter.
Amazing Analog Section
The output stage of the CD-S8 is a full vacuum tube section rather than a hybrid design. It takes maximum advantage of a pair of 6922 tubes for smooth, rich, analog-like audio. The analog circuitry is housed in a physically separated section of the chassis and shielded from the digital and power supply circuitry. This no-compromise approach keeps noise out of the signal chain and helps maintain maximum signal purity. A dedicated headphone stage with volume control lets you enjoy the Vincent's sumptuous output in a private listening setting.
Unlike most CD players, the CD-S8 has been designed with balanced circuitry from top to bottom. Premium Neutrik XLR balanced outputs let you take maximum advantage of this design. Included with the Vincent is an aluminum wireless remote that's a pleasure to operate - and it feels great in your hand! |
