NAD C 359S — A Classic Series Amplifier With Streaming Built In
The C 359S brings the direct, hands-on feel of NAD's Classic Series into a modern music system. You get physical buttons and rotary controls, with no large display or menus to navigate.
Behind that simple front panel are Class AB amplification, BluOS streaming, HDMI eARC, aptX HD Bluetooth and a phono input. NAD's own summary: "the C 359S puts music first."
Class AB Power With a Modern Supply
NAD rates the C 359S at 2 x 70 watts continuous into 8 ohms and 2 x 120 watts into 4 ohms. Its high-current, low-noise switch-mode power supply draws on NAD's Class D development work. Peak output current exceeds 20 amps, and damping factor exceeds 210.
BluOS Streaming and Multi-Room
BluOS built-in streams high-resolution music up to 24-bit/192 kHz, plus internet radio. You control it from the free BluOS Controller app, and presets on the included IR remote recall favorite stations. It also joins other BluOS players around the home for multi-room listening.
A Better Approach to Bass
Add a subwoofer, and optional high-pass filtering can steer low bass away from your main speakers. NAD says this can improve clarity, imaging and headroom, so speakers and sub work better together.
How the C 359S Fits Your System
It is a stereo integrated amplifier that drives a pair of passive speakers. Sources connect through phono, analog, optical and HDMI eARC inputs, plus Bluetooth and your home network.
A few things it does not do. Its Bluetooth works in receive mode only, so it cannot send sound to wireless headphones; use the wired headphone output instead. It has no large display for album art or menus. It is a two-channel amplifier, not a surround receiver.
Who Is This Integrated Amplifier Best For?
- You like real knobs and buttons — pick a source, set the volume, and play, with no menus in the way
- You want TV sound through your hi-fi — HDMI eARC connects a compatible TV directly
- You stream and play records — BluOS and a phono input live in the same box
- You plan to add a subwoofer — high-pass filtering lets the sub take over the deepest bass
- You want a big screen or wireless headphones — this is not the one; it has no large display, and Bluetooth only receives
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Connect your speakers, then your sources: a turntable to the phono input, a TV to HDMI eARC, and other gear to the analog or optical inputs. A subwoofer connects to the sub output.
Join your network with Gigabit Ethernet or Wi-Fi 5, then set up streaming in the free BluOS Controller app. Pair a phone over Bluetooth if you like, and plug headphones into the dedicated output.
An IR remote is included. The C 359S also works with Control4, Crestron, ELAN, Lutron, Push, Roon, RTI and URC.
Pairs Well With
Building around the C 359S? Here are some good companions:
- Bookshelf speakers — a good match for 70 watts per channel
- Subwoofers — put the high-pass filtering to work
- Turntables — the phono input is built in
- Headphones — wired pairs plug into the dedicated headphone output
Frequently Asked Questions
How much power does the C 359S deliver?
NAD rates it at 2 x 70 watts continuous into 8 ohms and 2 x 120 watts into 4 ohms. IHF dynamic power is 76 watts into 8 ohms and 144 watts into 4.
Is BluOS built in, or an add-on?
NAD lists BluOS as built-in. Streaming, internet radio and multi-room work through the free BluOS Controller app.
Can I connect my TV?
Yes. HDMI eARC connects a compatible TV directly to the amplifier.
Can it send audio to Bluetooth headphones?
No. NAD lists its aptX HD Bluetooth in receive mode only. Use the dedicated wired headphone output for private listening.
Does it work with Roon?
