What Is the X-FTB01?

The Advance Paris X-FTB01 is a tiny Bluetooth add-on for certain Advance Paris amps and preamps. It plugs into a port on the back of your amp. No wires. No power cord. No extra box on your shelf.

Once it’s in, you can stream music from your phone, tablet, or laptop right to your hi-fi system. It pairs like any other Bluetooth device. Just connect and play.

Advance Paris makes two of these modules. This is the X-FTB01. It uses a codec called aptX, which sends CD-quality audio over Bluetooth. The step-up model is the X-FTB02, which adds aptX HD for even higher quality. If you’re not sure which one you need, give us a call — we’re happy to help.

What Is aptX, and Why Does It Sound Better?

Regular Bluetooth (called SBC) squeezes music down a lot to send it wirelessly. That means some detail gets lost. On earbuds, you may not notice. On a good hi-fi system, you can hear the difference.

aptX was made to fix that. It sends 16-bit audio at 44.1 kHz — the same quality as a CD. More of the music comes through clean and whole. According to Advance Paris, the X-FTB01 achieves distortion of just 0.003% at 1 kHz and a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Those are very good numbers for a module this small and simple.

The X-FTB01 also supports AAC (the codec iPhones use) and SBC (the basic standard). So it works with every Bluetooth phone and tablet. When your device can’t do aptX, the module picks the next best codec on its own.

A Smarter Way to Handle the Audio Signal

Most Bluetooth receivers turn the digital signal into analog inside the receiver itself. Then they send that analog signal to your amp. That works, but it means a small Bluetooth chip is doing the conversion — not your amp’s own DAC.

A DAC is the part of your amp that turns digital music into sound. Your amp’s DAC was built and tuned by Advance Paris for that job.

The X-FTB01 does things differently. According to Advance Paris, it sends the audio signal in digital form straight to your amp’s DAC. No extra conversion step in the Bluetooth chip. Your amp does what it was made to do.

Who Is This Best For?

You own a compatible Advance Paris amp or preamp and want to add wireless streaming without a separate device.

You stream music from your phone every day and want better quality than basic Bluetooth — at a fair price.

You use an iPhone or a device that doesn’t support aptX HD. The X-FTB01 works great with AAC, which iPhones send by default.

You want a clean look — no extra boxes or cables on your rack.

You want a low-cost way to start streaming on your Advance Paris system. You can always swap in the X-FTB02 later if you want aptX HD.

How Do You Set It Up?

Turn off your amp. Plug the X-FTB01 into the Bluetooth port on the back. Turn your amp back on. That’s the whole process — about 30 seconds.

The module gets its power from the amp. There’s nothing else to plug in. It’s tiny — just 55 × 28 × 13 mm and only 10 grams. It sits flush with the back panel and adds nothing visible.

Bluetooth range is about 10 meters (33 feet) indoors. That’s enough for most rooms.

Important: This module only works with Advance Paris products that have the Bluetooth expansion port. It will not work with other brands. Compatible models include the A10 Classic, A12 Classic, X-i75, X-P700, PlayStream A7, MyConnect 250, and WTX-StreamTubes. Not sure if yours has the port?
