The Cardas Frequency Sweep and Burn-In Record Mk II is a working tool rather than a demonstration disc. George Cardas produced it and Stan Ricker mastered it, and it carries standard tones, polarity checks, channel identification and a set of sweeps that clean and degauss as they play.
Two things accumulate quietly in a system: magnetic charge in the cartridge and signal path, and debris on the stylus. Both arrive slowly enough that nobody notices them arriving, and a sweep disc deals with both in the time it takes to play one side.

The record carries frequency sweeps, relative and absolute polarity checks, vocal channel identification, locked pink noise grooves that repeat endlessly, blank plateaus, and a sync label for checking platter speed. It is pressed on 180-gram vinyl.
The sweep track known as The Sweeper is mastered at 16 2/3 RPM and played at 33 1/3, which doubles every frequency on replay. That is how a disc cut at ordinary speeds reaches ultrasonic territory — the range that does the cleaning and degaussing work.
Locked grooves are the other design decision worth knowing about. A pink noise groove that repeats endlessly will run while you walk the room, which is how a standing wave gets found rather than guessed at.
