The Wall-Wart Is the Weak Link in Your System
Streamers, DACs, phono stages, and turntables almost always ship with a generic switch-mode wall-wart — the cheapest component in the box, feeding some of the most sensitive circuits you own. Those supplies are electrically noisy by design, and the noise doesn't stay put. It rides into the component's ground plane and analog stages, where it shows up as hiss you can't account for, a grainy edge to the treble, and a background that never goes fully quiet.
Replacing it takes about a minute and works on gear you already own — which makes it one of the most efficient upgrades in the hobby.
Active Noise Cancellation II — Noise Killed at the Source
Rather than filtering noise after the fact, the iPower2 generates a signal identical to the incoming EMI and RFI but opposite in phase, cancelling it out — the same principle behind noise-cancelling headphones. The circuit works at both the input and output stages, so noise is handled coming in and going out.
The result is an audio-band noise floor of roughly 1 microvolt. iFi rates the iPower2 as more than 10 times quieter than most audiophile power supplies, with improved internal components and thicker-gauge wiring over the previous generation doing the heavy lifting.
Four Voltages — Choose the One Your Component Requires
The iPower2 is a fixed-voltage supply available in four versions:
- 5V — up to 2.5A. Streamers, USB DACs, small digital components, and single-board computers.
- 9V — up to 2.0A. Phono stages, headphone amps, and effects pedals.
- 12V — up to 1.8A. Network players, DACs, routers, and many turntables.
- 15V — up to 1.2A. Desktop DACs and components specified for 15V.
There's no switch or adjustment — each version outputs one voltage only. Check the label on your component or its original supply, confirm the voltage and that the current draw falls within the rating above, and order the matching version.
Adapters for Roughly Three Quarters of DC Plugs
The iPower2 ships with five differently sized DC barrel adapters — 3.5 × 1.35mm, 4.0 × 1.7mm, 4.8 × 1.7mm, 5.5 × 2.1mm, and 5.5 × 2.5mm — which iFi puts at around 73% of the DC plugs in circulation. A white reverse-polarity adapter is included for center-negative components, making this a practical option for pro audio and effects pedals alongside hi-fi.
The 5V version adds USB pigtail adapters for powering USB-fed devices like a Raspberry Pi or a streaming stick from clean DC instead of a phone charger.
Before You Order
Voltage must match exactly. Connecting a 15V supply to a 9V component can damage it. If your component needs a voltage other than 5V, 9V, 12V, or 15V, this is not the right product.
Confirm polarity and current draw. Most home and pro audio gear is center-positive, but some components are center-negative — the included white adapter covers that, provided you know which yours needs. Your component's current draw must also be at or below the iPower2's rating for its voltage. Check the user guide, or call us and we'll look it up with you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which version do I need?
Look at the label on your component's DC input or on its original power supply — it will list a voltage and a current rating. Match the voltage exactly, make sure your component's draw is at or below the iPower2 rating for that voltage, and note the polarity symbol. If anything is unclear, call us before ordering.
Will I actually hear a difference?
It depends on how noisy your existing supply is and how revealing your system is. On sensitive digital components running off a cheap generic wall-wart, the improvement is usually clear: quieter background, better separation, more detail surviving intact. On gear with a well-designed internal supply, expect something subtler.
How does this compare to the iPower X and iPower Elite?
The iPower2 is the value entry point and the right answer for most modest components. The iPower X supplies more current per voltage in a larger chassis; the Elite goes further still, with the highest output and an aluminum unibody for bigger amplifiers. All three use Active Noise Cancellation II and land at roughly the same 1 microvolt noise floor — the difference is current capacity and build, not quietness. Start with the iPower2 unless your component draws more than it can deliver.
